The Bay Area should never be allowed to live down that it didn’t allow one of its greatest native sons to build this there. And Chicago somehow outdid even that, with “Friends of the Parks” killing the Lucas Museum because it would replace… a parking lot.
A life-sized Naboo N-1 Starfighter welcomes guests to the south side of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which features a FREE public library. Warms my heart to see the community benefit from this on top of free museum admission for neighboring residents in the 90037 zip code.

Why friends of the parks wanted to preserve a parking lot? Doesn't Chicago has a robust public transit system?

And 10 million people in the greater metro area. The lot can be servicing a large amount of people, and supposedly it was in lakefront area which has a larg amount of tourists and local visitors. Removing like 50 lots can cause congestion issues (and it already had them)
