Pressure isn’t something athletes should avoid. It’s something they can learn to handle.
Change the game.

Huge thanks to @ctgprojecthq for having me on The Way of Champions podcast. 🙌 Also big credit to @sportpsych for the game changing “courage over confidence” concept.

One of the points I shared as part of @power_ray's webinar series:
Our brain has a negativity bias because its main job is survival, so it naturally looks for threats.
It's about learning how to respond to these worries.

If the best players in the world make mistakes, why do young players expect perfection from themselves?
As I shared on the @BetterCoaching_ with @LukeGromer, players can lose bravery when they become too focused on avoiding errors.
Mistakes have to be normalised.

Most players chase “confidence” like it’s a personality trait. The inner game moves faster when you treat confidence as a replay. After your best moment, grab ONE repeatable cue: 1) Watch 2 minutes of the last match. 2) Identify the cue that showed up before your best: dead ball
/ throw-in / 1st touch. Next reset, you don’t hunt feelings. You run the cue. Then repeat it. mindsightsport.com #FootballMindset #SportPsychology #InnerGame #CoachingTips #mindsightsport #soccer #football

When a coach with real experience speaks, it means a lot. Grateful for this feedback from Gary Curneen @modernsoccercoach on Inspiring Young Minds and for the reminder that great coaching is about more than drills and sessions, it is about psychology, empathy, and creating
environments where young players can truly grow. This book was written to challenge coaches to reflect, think deeper, and raise the standard of how we work with young people. #YouthFootball #FootballCoaching #CoachEducation #SportPsychology #MindsetCoach #PlayerDevelopment
That “I’m off today” thought… you say it before kickoff—and your confidence hears it like a warning. Here’s the mindset tip we coach every week: replace the first sentence your brain writes. Instead of judging your day, we give you a process cue. Try this in the tunnel: 1) Pick
a controllable cue, their decision-making gets clearer. Comment with the phrase you’re using before matches—and we’ll help you swap it for a process cue. mindsightsport.com #FootballMindset #FootballCoaching #MentalGame #Confidence #PeakPerformance #mindsightsport #soccer
