We’re living in very scary times. The average salary in the U.K. is less than £25k and this is what we have to come 😔

What do you think someone’s Disney princess says about their career? Or how much they earn? Zaynab give her best shot at trying to figure out what Adan does… #guessmyjob #guessmysalary

I’d really hate to be in the £100-£125k band. Sounds like hell. Hope my employer doesn’t see this and increase my pay to that 😤

Obviously she just works 10,400 times harder than the average U.K. worker… right? 🫠
Denise Coates, the multibillionaire boss of gambling company Bet365, has collected annual pay and dividends of more than £260m – one of the world’s biggest-ever pay awards but less than the record-breaking £471m she collected in 2020. theguardian.com/business/202…

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is about to announce the Autumn Budget. Will provide updates on the changes in the thread below 👇🏾

The income tax personal allowance (£12,570) and the higher income tax rate (40% over £50k) will be frozen until 2028. Tax band freezes are seen as stealth tax increases as people will be pulled into them as they receive pay rises, even those just in line with inflation.
1
The energy price cap will rise from £2,500 to £3,000 a year from next April.
The additional tax rate, which is currently 45% tax on earnings over £150,000, will have a reduced threshold of £125,140. This means those earning over £125k will now pay 45% tax on those earnings rather than 40%
2
Tax free dividend allowances to be reduced from £2,000 to £1,000 next year with a further drop to £500 in 2024
At least we’re not paying a lot for our energy 🫠
*BREAKING* National Grid’s chief executive has warned British households to prepare for blackouts between 4pm and 7pm on “really, really cold” weekdays in January and February in the event of reduced gas imports from Europe. theguardian.com/business/202…

So the new chancellor is scrapping the income tax basic rate cut and scaling back the energy price cap guarantee but is going ahead with removing the bankers bonus cap. Beyond parody at this point

Really important point to clear up is that the energy cap does NOT mean that your yearly bill can’t exceed £2,500. The cap is on the price per unit that energy companies can charge, not the total bill. £2,500 represents the average home’s bill over the next year.

I’ve spoken to people that thought they can use as much energy as they want because the bills would cap at £2,500. Definitely don’t do this 😅

The Tories have lost control of the UK economy 🇬🇧🫠 here’s how (so far)👇🏽 1. KK’s mini-budget is biggest tax cutting event since 1970’s 😨 2. The £ has tanked to record low vs $ 😳 3. The IMF has rebuked the UK fiscal policy 😰 (Continued…)

4. Agreesive tax cuts = need for a lot more borrowing 🥲 5. Borrowing for UK currently costs more than by Greece and Italy 😅 6. Gov policy has contradicted BoE which is tightening to manage inflation 🥹 7. BofE required to intervene to manage the impact of these policies
