If you run any kind of PHP application on your server... it's time to patch. Except... the patch is not here yet. Some info here: jackalsyn.com/posts/php-up-2โ€ฆ - but disabling upload progress *may* help, it's just not the full fix: session.upload_progress.enabled = Off

Thank you
This is the most useful prompt I've found in months. I've been using it with Opus 5.5 as a skill called /better to great effect. Grab it here: gist.github.com/joshp123/a14โ€ฆ Here's how it's really stretches the model's performance vs usual prompts: 1. The "what a top professional in the field would do" somehow reminds the model to think of a lot of stuff it wouldn't otherwise do, and (unless this is your core area of expertise), you wouldn't know either. Obviously Claude/Codex always knows the best practices already, but often it needs reminding to use them (despite it being in the training data), so this helps. 2. Rawest material - models love using proxies for stuff (e.g. Claude sampling logs instead of reading them); so telling them to use rawest materials helps them go back to primary sources/think from first principles, avoiding a lot of problems that come from lazy models and the resulting indirection. 4. Designing independent success criteria: important for the model to know how to actually work; and forcing it to define them means you get better and stronger results vs just letting it vibe stuff. The risk here is that you end up with "proof porn" - think endless hashing or comparisons without testing the real result - all frontier models as of Oct 2026 (Astra 6/Sol 6.1/Opus 5.5/Fable 5.1) all love doing this, so keep an eye on them.

so to explain a little bit more for everyone: bitcoin and ethereum avoided the traditional P-256 curve developed by NIST, because it was suspected that the NSA handpicked some kind of secret value when generating it, so they could build a hidden weakness into the curve and therefore, they could decrypt any communication that used this curve for ECDSA. so bitcoin went and chose a different curve instead โ€” the K1 curve (secp256k1), whose parameters looked transparently chosen, no mysterious NSA numbers attached. but anthropic just found and proved that the old curve's seeds were actually generated at random. turns out it was just a 1990s random number generator seeded with the computer's clock โ€” P-256's seed is literally the 1,842nd batch of random bytes after 1997-08-16 01:52:34. that proves the curve was secure all along, and there was never a backdoor. and this actually matters, because while bitcoin and ethereum use the K1 curve, most other applications are still on P-256: passkeys, a huge share of HTTPS connections, SSH keys, sign in with apple and etc. billions of signatures every day, on a curve that's now proven clean!

Microsoft quietly published 9 production-ready .NET libraries Most .NET developers have no idea they exist ๐Ÿ‘‡ They're official and open-source. The email that made history. On this day, 35 years ago, a student in Finland sent a message that he was working on a new project that "won't be big and professional". He was wrong! The project became both huge and professional. This is how Linux came into existence. It started as a hobby project, turned into a Master thesis, turned into the backbone of internet, cloud and AI. The performance of "This Charming Man" at Glastonbury 2019 became one of the festival's standout moments when Johnny Marr joined The Killers on stage for a surprise appearance. Brandon Flowers has frequently cited Marr as one of his greatest musical influences, making the collaboration a symbolic meeting between two generations of alternative rock. Originally released by The Smiths in 1983, "This Charming Man" was written by Johnny Marr and Morrissey and became one of the defining songs of the indie rock movement, reaching No. 25 on the UK Singles Chart before climbing to No. 8 when it was reissued in 1992. The 2019 Glastonbury performance introduced the classic track to a new generation of listeners while celebrating Johnny Marr's enduring influence.

This quote from โ€˜The Princeโ€™ by Niccolรฒ Machiavelli (written in 1513), has resonance, it seems to me, as we observe the difficulties experienced in securing the scale of action required on climate change science. โ€˜It ought to be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. Because the innovator has for enemies all those who have done well under the old conditions, and lukewarm defenders in those who may do well under the new. This coolness arises partly from fear of the opponents, who have the laws on their side, and partly from the incredulity of men, who do not readily believe in new things until they have had a long experience of them.โ€™
I genuinely donโ€™t understand why the idea of climate change makes some people so angry. You can debate policies, costs and solutions. Of course. But why does the actual suggestion that human activity is changing the climate provoke such a furious reaction from some people? What am I missing?

Iโ€™m a doctor. This executive order is wrong. The President does not have the expertise to make these changes. Vaccines are overwhelmingly safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. Breaking up vaccines will mean children have to get more shots to get the same protection, not fewer shots. It will increase hesitancy and make children less safe. Parents should listen to their childโ€™s pediatrician about vaccines rather than listening to an inaccurate executive order. This is so wrong. xitter.cf/axios/status/208688294โ€ฆ
