🚨 Rio Ferdinand 𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 Michael Carrick:
"We started poorly last season and look how it finished. Let's hope we've got that little kick on this season to change things around.
“And you've got to stay with someone like Michael. Give him the time. Let him go out there. Let him turn this around.
“It's the first bump in his managerial career at Manchester United. You can't just turn someone's lights off at the first sign of trouble. Give him the chance to change the fortunes of the club."

Same guy who lost to Grimsby, lost a final to an 18th place Spurs side, froze out Kobbie Mainoo, played Bruno as a holding midfielder, and regularly finished games with Mazraoui at 10 and Maguire up front. The same guy who lost 21 games in total, including 19 in the Premier League, and recorded the lowest win percentage of any United manager in history. The same guy who made losing look like a weekly subscription. Or are they talking about someone else?

🚨Leeds boss Daniel Farke 𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 Michael Carrick after United's poor start:
"We don't have many young British coaches in the Premier League. We have a promising one who has done excellent jobs at Middlesbrough and when [he] came in at Manchester United to steady the ship.
"But after six games when they haven't had a horrendous start, ok by their perception as they want to challenge for the title. The criticism has started already. 𝗜 𝗗𝗢𝗡'𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗜𝗧. If we have young promising managers let's look after them. Especially when you look at what he's done for the club over many years as a player and a coach in a very difficult situation. He did a 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗨𝗦 job.
"We should back young British managers, yes I have German passport but I'm not too far away from getting British status. I like it when young British managers come through. The outside world wants to see everyone fail. We should be happy to have someone with so much potential and not question them too early."

Lisandro Martinez’s view that Michael Carrick has been sold short and the squad has not been equipped with the depth to fight on multiple fronts is shared by several senior players - and football staff. It has been discussed in the dressing room with the club aware of frustrations around recruitment.
There was a fear ahead of the campaign that the squad would not be strengthened properly - the lack of cover at left-back and striker were major concerns, which is evidenced in how much the need for reinforcements was stressed during pre-season interviews.
Told the driving reason behind Martinez’s airing these grievances publicly is fury that Carrick is likely going to lose his job despite not being given the tools to have a fair crack, and players are sick of reset after reset, without questions asked of the people in charge and what direction they’re taking the club in.
Carrick and the team have faced criticism, accepted it, and owned up to performances being nowhere near good enough.
Where is the accountability from the people who keep leading the club to one doom spiral after another?

Michael Carrick was a fucking magnificent player for United. A model professional who loves this club. He's even been a season ticket holder himself
Criticism is warranted. He knows that better than anyone.
But show some fucking class when criticising him.
Whatever pain we're feeling, he's feeling it more.
And unlike most managers who come and go, when this is all over, he'll still be one of us.

Just seen a video of a bloke being mauled by a tiger in Yorkshire and surprisingly, it had nothing to do with Hull City
