If Carrick lost the next 9 games straight (which would be a shock because he’d be sacked many games before that) he’d still have a higher win rate than Amorim at United.
You have to think it’s either delusion or ulterior motives.
Oh please, just for selfish reasons
🚨🚨 NEW: Manchester United are seriously CONSIDERING a move for Real Betis striker Troy Parrott and have sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old.
Parrott registered 31 goals and 12 assists last season and has an €80M release clause. United are looking at options amid concerns over Benjamin Šeško’s injury. [@Sport_Witness] #mufc
Being able to cheat and use any of Bruno’s last six seasons helped. Not to mention Cristiano being the product of needing four midfielders.
Outside of that, I remember why I repress 21/22, 23/24, and 24/25.
I’m throughly enjoying seeing people with far less knowledge regarding football than Michael Cox trying to disprove this. Hilarious viewing to watch them fit a narrative they’re pushing that is completely asinine.
Manchester United are rather immobile...but it's also refreshing to see a side not hooked on relentless man-marking in midfield. This is how football looked for a long time. It was good! It means you can play technical midfielders instead of runners! ⬇️

Ironic thing is a 3atb would be a great choice right now, albeit more a 352.
But Amorim was that bad that it didn’t matter if he played 3atb, he would still have this team underperforming.
Just because a manager uses a certain formation, doesn’t make them a good fit…
I’m not even against this, I feel like a manager should be able to use a player wherever he sees fit. Matter of fact, Mourinho used Eto’o as make shift left-back once.
The thing that bothers me is the double standard.
If this were Amorim you wouldn’t hear the end of it, despite most players their flaws were protected, and the system benefited off his system:
- Bruno played less chaos ball as a #8, and he himself said he became a better player.
- Heaven was developing well because a 3 ATB gives him more
- Maguire was protected as the CCB by the WCB’s, so instead of being exposed all the time he could win his physical duels.
- Shaw as a LCB didn’t have to overlap 24/7 which helped a lot with his fitness, and he didn’t have to defend 1v1 so much
- Amad had much more freedom as RWB under Amorim than as a RW under Carrick.
- Mbeumo could play in between the lines and closer to goal. Since he had Amad overlapping he was less responsible to beat his man constantly.
- Mazraoui as RCB similar reasons as Shaw
Atleast with Amorim you could see why he did what he did.
With Carrick, NOBODY has a clue.

“Red-emption” headlines incoming for Marcus Rashford. When he plays like this, working hard in and out of possession, applying his skill and ferocious pace, he absolutely has to have a future at Manchester United. And has to start.
Why offload a player of his calibre? Wages? If he keeps playing like this, and is totally focused, the wages look more justifiable. He’s delivering. And would Rashford find a better home for his football? Barcelona have turned to Gordon.
Credit to those many match-going United fans who gave Rashford a second chance. And huge credit to Michael Carrick for his calm handling of the situation. Taking the emotion and history out of the situation.
If Rashford does stay, and it will be interesting to see which clubs now come in for him, he just has to keep producing performances like #MUNIPS 🙌
My annoyance with this is because it's not good squad building to buy a 27yo for 40m to be a backup.
You should never buy "backups", unless they're U21. You want players to start then theyre backup due to quality, not because of their purchased role.
Zirkzee is an example.
Excl: #MUFC and Atalanta have held talks for Éderson with a deal progressing between the two clubs. Personal terms not expected to be an issue. Reports from Italy regarding a deal being agreed are premature as of this moment. Still work to do. @UtdDistrict roundtable.io/sports/soccer/…

Congratulations ❤️
Man Utd shouldn't follow the OGS model because that would see them finishing in the top four consistently, making the semi-finals or further in cup competitions, and creating a great squad that was on the cusp of bringing us back to the glory days.
God forbid.
There are two schools of thought among the #mufc hierarchy about the manager succession plan:
The first is that Michael Carrick gets the job because he deserves the chance, it goes wrong next season and the United hierarchy are derided for following the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer model.
The other is that Carrick is replaced by a more experienced manager, who struggles to adapt and then the hierarchy are accused of trying to fix something that was not broken [@sistoney67]
Our only manager post-SAF to finish top 4 consecutively is a “previous failure”?
He didn’t reach the high standards we had, aka challenging the best Man City team ever, but he had United going deep in every cup and finishing high in the league.
The Witchunt has already began.
I don’t blame Man Utd for not having a succession plan. The Amorim situation unravelled quickly.
But revisiting previous failures would not be a particularly smart idea.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United sack Ruben Amorim as head coach. 40yo Portuguese informed of decision & goes with immediate effect after 14 months following breakdown in relations. Darren Fletcher expected to take over #MUFC on interim basis @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/6594285…
I didn’t know “ZERO” meant Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte these days.

I love these kind of statements that show a massive recency bias.
Harry Maguire at the same age for United was putting up defensive, passing and carrying stats that put him next to Van Dijk, Dias, and Stones. These stats obviously were much better than De Ligt’s at United.
🚨Matthijs de Ligt is simply the most consistent and reliable defender Manchester United have had in years. Week after week, he delivers calm, commanding performances that quietly make him the backbone of this team.
He’s now reached 50 appearances for the club, and the way he marshals that backline is pure class — he doesn’t just defend, he dictates. He clears danger, wins his duels, steps into midfield when needed, and keeps the shape solid even under pressure.
What’s crazy is how normal his brilliance has become — you rarely see his name trending after games because he just doesn’t put a foot wrong. Under Amorim, De Ligt looks sharper, smarter, and even more composed when building from the back. His reading of the game is elite.
United have missed this kind of consistency for years. He may not chase the headlines, but his performances do all the talking. What a signing. 🔥💪 #MUFC
I love when people make sweeping statements about managers. Every single one of them had a lot of critics and naysayers before they were hired.
However, because “everyone wanted” the current manager, it means we should accept a level below even mediocrity. Make it make sense.
Using Liverpool as an example is hilarious when they already had TAA, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah, Mane, and Firmino before selling Coutinho.
The more apt comparison would be Liverpool when they sold Suarez, or United after CR7, or Spurs after Bale.

INEOS Year 1 complete. If I could give them less than 0/10 I would. Absolute failure on all levels.
This past season has been a form of karma for United’s superiority complex over transfers. Selling or exiling talents such as AWB, Fred, McT, Rashford, Henderson, and younger players like Alvaro and Elanga has really shown itself this season.
United are in a dire strait.
I hate seeing the club I’ve supported since I was a toddler go down the way it is. But it’s easy to see where they’ve gone wrong and what could have been rectified.
I fear where this is going, and it’s impossible to gut this team without suffering repercussions (relegation).
