New : Premier David Eby, federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, & officials from all orders of govt, along with police leadership, are in Surrey for an announcement on combating extortion crimes. In his opening remarks - Minister Anandasangaree acknowledged that people are losing faith. Says CBSA has investigated more than 350 individuals and is now focused on 94, with 5 already deported. For victim supports, Province is putting in $500,000, matched by another $500,000 from the fed govt. No details yet on how the funds will reach victims. Fed’s also allocating $4 M for integrated teams targeting drug trafficking & gang activity south of the Fraser. #cdnpoli #bcpoli
