Morning fog on the way to Sydney looking like a marshmallow river.
There are, I think, rivers under here, and so the surface temperature is probably colder than on the surrounding lands. Great display of thermal physics in practice!
And a pretty good view.

Having a website is key for any academic group. But doing it sustainably and affordably is very difficult
I built the R package condensr, which integrates with Quarto to quickly produce cross-linked websites michaellydeamore.com/blog/co…
The package is out now on CRAN #rstats #quarto
This package is used for the SPECTRUM CRE (spectrum.edu.au/) and SPARK modelling consortium (spark.edu.au/). Both use easily maintainable spreadsheets to generate all their content.
If you have a smaller academic group, I highly recommend checking this out.
It is one of my pet peeves to have two copies of anything, from magic numbers to data files. It will become a problem.
I found a Quarto extension that generates question and solution sets from the same file. It's pretty awesome.

This sort of thing has the potential to be very useful to our research group, @numbats_rise_up. We do a lot of business analytics and data science. You can read the post on the NUMBATs website, along with a myriad of other activities from a broad group:

I should also say, inspired by @dan_p_simpson, I wrote this entirely in one sitting, with most of a coffee in my cup and have not edited it really at all. So enjoy that.

The most common COVID question I get now is: how many cases are we missing?
Here, I attempt to answer that question in detail. And importantly, does it matter if we don’t know the true infection numbers? abc.net.au/news/2022-12-29/h…
Modelling for Australia's National Reopening Plan, including key vaccination thresholds, has been released on medRxiv. This is the first technical piece that fully outlines all the models and evidence used to help build the plan.
