Andy Burnham says, in a new Guardian opinion piece, that he is “open to” the “calls for a formal apology on behalf of the British state” for the transatlantic slave trade which began almost HALF A MILLENNIUM ago. This would be like someone in the year 2526 having to apologise for heinous acts conducted today. It is ridiculous. It goes without saying that the transatlantic slave trade was an awful part of global history. But it is also a part of history for which we have already atoned, multiple times over, as one of the world’s pioneers in abolishing the slave trade and indeed policing, through our West Africa Squadron and others – an endeavour that cost up to 2% of Britain’s GDP every year for decades to come. Now think about all the aid money we have supplied across the world since. Billions upon billions. And lest we forget the lives Britain has put on the line over the centuries since: our own people, who sacrificed everything, to keep the free world free. This is a time of year we remember those sacrifices instead of grovelling to anyone who demands it over something of which no Briton alive played any part. Yet Burnham is still “open” to making humiliating public pronouncements on Britain’s behalf. I say no. I say enough. One of the biggest problems we face today is that we are no longer a forward-looking nation. We only ever seem to lament our past, or condemn those who came before us. I cannot abide it any longer. Britain is exceptional. We are a moral force in the world. We have given so much, and sacrificed for centuries. It is now time to put the Britsh people first, instead of caving to every demand that we get on our knees.

Funny how it's accepable for Scotsmen or Yorkshiremen to be described as tight.
Robert Jenrick literally claims the phrase "Nigerian Scammer" is not racist. As I said, it's clear what the benchmark for racism within Reform is now. This isn't some obscure councillor. It's a senior MP.

My tax contribution doesn't make it as far as my bank account.
Full communist state.

The British and US governments are temporary; Britain, USA and their peoples permanent. We are all natural allies. Abandoning the principal of self-determination in the case of the Falkland Islands would be a mistake. Don't pick the wrong side. Don't break this alliance.
הנשיא טראמפ ומנהיגי העולם תומכים בראש הממשלה נתניהו. יוצאים ומצביעים מחל כדי להשלים את המשימה!

I don't trust any politicians to keep manifesto promises but that said, the question should be: Do you think electing a Reform majority government would bring some of the changes you think are needed?
Do YOU trust Reform to actually keep their promises if they win an election?

Oh stop banging on about your MP salery! I'm sure you're very comfortably off without it. You are a hobby politician. At the next General Election, you will be the only Restore MP. The only real effect you will have is to hinder ReformUK.
My MP salary donation this month is going to Yarmouth Greyhound Homefinders - helping dogs from the racing find a proper home once their competitive running days are over. Caring for the dogs, and then linking them up with a loving family. A great cause - I'm chuffed to help.

What he needs to understand is that although our present government is not stopping these things happening, with the right leaders in place, we most certainly could. Write Britain off at your peril Putin.

Anyone who steals Pringles or crisp products is not doing so because they are desperate for a meal; they're doing it because they are scumbag scroungers.
Stand in any high street shop and this is what you'll see. Only Reform will crack down on this behaviour by ensuring that every shoplifting case is prosecuted.

Meanwhile, away from the conference rhetoric, real votes matter.
The Welsh Tories just voted against Reform’s motion to deny social housing to foreign nationals. The Tories will never change.

You are not God and for that we can all take comfort.
Dear atheist, What if, after you die, you find out that God is real all along? You lose.

ReformUK is a bigger, stronger version of UKIP whereas Restore has simply replaced the BNP.
There’s no point in moaning about Restore any more. Reform’s job is simple, get their message out more and get more votes. People need positive policies that puts money back in their pockets. Reform should hammer these out on every single leaflet they produce.

Shoplifters are running riot. Parts of the country are feral. If nobody else will confront them, I will.

I'll be honest, I only really watch the BBC for major national live news events like election coverage or Remembrance Sunday. One exception was Strictly which I always enjoyed until now. The BBC has unbelievably managed to destroy one of their best programmes. #Strictly

There are no non-voters before an election.
Replying to @dennisspencer6
Non-voters are called non-voters for a reason.

Why is it that 'progressive' politics so often brings us no real progress at all?
