It’s not a coincidence that it’s called the “No Kings” march and not the “abolish ICE” march.

It was 3 hours of impacted Black people and organizers telling HUDz Committee to do right by this money and give the rest of the Rams money to North City*.
Last night, in front of a packed house in the Ville, the HUDZ Committee approved $30M to tornado recovery. The 3+ hours of public testimony made a real difference, leading to several amendments and shaping the bill into something that better reflects residents’ needs. (1/2)

Is this a threat? Sounds like a threat.
This weekend, I trust protesters in St. Louis to once again be peaceful, and I trust the @SLMPD to be equipped to protect our community.

“This is not a matter of safety but a matter of sovereignty, of self-determination,” said @MikeAMilton314 of @FCCStLouis. Yesterday, plaintiffs Jamala Rogers (@OBS_STL) & Milton + ACD attorney Brianna Coppersmith announced a lawsuit challenging MO's planned takeover of SLMPD.

Drove past th we Workhouse this morning and it's absolutely GUTTED to my delight. Cara seemed to be considering opening it back up. But thanks to @tishaura, that's not in the realm of possibilities, and I am so incredibly thankful to her for that.

Imma say this again, @saintlouismayor investment in Freedom Community Center helped us support over 200 survivors of serious violence. 40% of those people are Black women in domestic violence - helping them escape. For the sake of our safety, you should vote for her.

As a new Black home owner is Cara’s ward in 2019, I was shocked that she had the gall to send this passive aggressive message to me, unsolicited. This is why she can’t get my vote because I have no hope she will stand up for Black people.

It is absolutely insane to me that somebody in jail can be in pretrial detention long enough to learn trades, get college credits or a degree. Very wild.

We worked hard this: - thousands of doors knocked - thousands of bailouts and pretrial supports - hundreds of coalition meetings, press conferences, strategy sessions - hours of litigation - death threats and media attacks. Tomorrow it will be demolished. It was all worth it
ALERT FROM THE CLOSE THE WORKHOUSE CAMPAIGN For years, we’ve fought to close this notorious cage. At long last, the City has met our demands and will break ground on demolition of the Workhouse TOMORROW MORNING, Tuesday March 18th!

I remember the first time I stepped foot in the workhouse. I remember the first time I returned to post a bail. I made a commitment that I would fight to close it along with our coalition. Tomorrow it’s being demolished. The people united will never be divided

Ok and 23 hour lockdowns need to end tonight!
The St. Louis mayor has appointed Doug Burris as interim commissioner at the city jail. The city initially hired Burris in early December to recommend fixes to the troubled jail, where at least 18 detainees died since 2020. @WimbleyJourno reports: stlpr.org/news-briefs/2025-0…

You can deflect til the cows come home. The truth and the demands remain the same. The Mayor is responsible for the jail. The mayor’s office is obfuscating oversight of the jail. People are dying and families impacted are upset, tired, and ready to organize. And we will.

At @FCCStLouis we’ve been organizing with the families and people detained at CJC. They’ve been clear about what they wanted. We gathered what we heard in this letter addressed to @saintlouismayor and @saintlouispres.

We learned that the Public Safety board is planning on structuring the hearings we demanded. We are please to know that The Board of Alderman hears demands of The People and takes them seriously. We’re still waiting on a response from @saintlouismayor on this very important issue
