writing about TikTok? few ideas from reviewing a bunch of TikTok papers lately: (1) if your study explores something that happens on TikTok, it's purposeful; platforms are not just the venue but often are the catalysts for cultural phenomena; don't de-emphasize their existence >>

The third and final article of my dissertation is out in Journalism! We looked at which institutional logics shape professional journalists' learning and how those logics are visible in journalists' descriptions of learning. The piece is open access here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.…

With market and professional logics, journalists felt they needed to do their work faster which resulted in pressures to learn about story topics faster but also made it so that journalists were unable to solidify new skills through repetition in the course of their daily work.

There's much more in the paper relating to each logic so for a more detailed analysis, go read the paper! In the discussion, we argue that the constant balancing of logics may also have consequences for journalists' skill levels and occupational well-being.

#kirjatwitter – at Helsinki, Finland

Managed to submit my paper to #ICA23 a week before the deadline – this has never happened before. So, a week to agonize over minor mistakes and re-upload the file to the system over and over again?!
