If you’re building software meant to run without you, do it where the agent can hold its own keys, pay its own bills, schedule its work, and keep going after you log off.

Everyone talks about "autonomous agents" like it's a single feature. It's not.
Autonomy is actually four distinct qualities, and 99% of agents today only have one or two.
Executive (The Will)
The agent initiates its own next steps. It figures out what to do to reach a goal, instead of just sitting there waiting for you to type another prompt.
Temporal (The Memory)
It actually persists over time. It can pause a task, go do something else, and come back to it later without resetting its brain on every single request.
Resourceful (The Means)
It owns its tools, its funds, and its right to act. It doesn't rely on borrowed API access or a human's wallet that gets bricked the moment a centralized platform changes its mind.
Semantic (The Understanding)
It reads a goal as a direction, not a rigid script. It actually knows the difference between a job being "done" and just "technically executed."
Right now, most agents have some semantic understanding, and that’s about it. Almost none are resourceful or temporal because modern infrastructure doesn't let an agent hold its own keys or fund its own existence.
Ritual is designed to integrate all four qualities simultaneously. That's the true standard for "autonomous." Until you have all four, you don't have an agent. You just have a chatbot with a macro.

What stands out about RebelKin is that it's being built in public. The collection is still evolving, yet the characters already have personalities that inspire people to create their own tributes.
