Repeatedly hearing local news media in Dayton OH refer to police as "the cops." For instance, "suspect was taken into custody when "the cops" arrived or "Cops" arrived on the scene. Is it just me or do you find it disrespectful for media to use slang when referring to the police?

Just a normal Halloween in Cincinnati, Ohio where Police get beat up on Short Vine. Liberals will say you’re imagining this and Mayor Aftab is still campaigning for Sharia Law up in Michigan.
Last night, crowds up on Short Vine destroyed property, set fires, vandalized vehicles, started fights—and assaulted CPD Officers who were just trying to keep everyone safe.
This CPD Officer was beaten and kicked repeatedly. The Officer required stitches and medical attention. This video is hard to see—and this is only the end of the video—it does not show the beginning where the Officer was jumped, nor does it show the duration of the assault.
