To coincide with #IWD, the #ListeningDesk’s first playlist is ‘Women in Work’, a compilation of interviews exploring the careers of women from the Midlands between the 1900s-1940s.
Join the UOSH team @uniofleicester SBB Building today (12-1pm) for a demo of the new playlist 👍

ALT Poster advertising the 'Women in Work' playlist. It summarises the contents of the playlist, which features interviewees recalling working in factories, the military and the emergency services during the First and Second World Wars. It also mentions that regional accents and dialects can be heard from voices across the Midlands as interviewees share amusing stories of their experiences.

Let's start the week with a precautionary tale: this is why we should never have put even small sticky labels on our CD-Rs back in the day. Unreadable. Fortunately, we have the master recordings and will return to them. Yikes!

always sad to see irretrievable discs. the last few bands on this side of the disc will track OK but the first 4 are unplayable due to the lacquer's natural shrinking and cracking.
