🌍Joined my counterparts at the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem during #UNGA81HLW. I called for our response on Jerusalem to move from condemnation to coordinated action. 🌍At the G77 and China Ministerial Meeting at #UNGA81 High-Level Week, I highlighted our collective strength and the need for climate finance, tailored support for SIDS, and safeguarding the UN development pillar. 🌍For the Maldives and other SIDS, pandemic preparedness must begin before a crisis strikes because a health emergency can quickly reverse hard-won development gains. At the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, I called for investments in stronger health systems, predictable financing, equitable access to vaccines and medicines, technology transfer and international cooperation to ensure we are prepared for future crises. @MoFAmv @MVPMNY #MDVatUNGA81

🌍 The Head of Delegation and Vice President @HucenSembe carried the #Maldives message to the General Debate of #UNGA81. "Every state, large or small, must have the freedom and capacity to shape its own future - a sovereign future" That future begins with peace in the Indian Ocean and beyond. When important sea lanes close, the impact travels with them, raising the cost of fuel, food and travel, and reaching the lives of people at home. No crisis is ever truly far away. 🌍“The same rules. The same standard. No exceptions.” #Maldives made it clear. There can be no lasting peace without accountability, no respect for sovereignty while denying it to others, and no international law that binds the weak but bends for the powerful. That means an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, its illegal occupation of #Palestine, and violations of the sovereignty of States across the region. 🌍For #Maldives, climate change is about sovereignty. Rising seas may alter our shores. But they will not erase our statehood, rights, maritime entitlements, and national agency. We will adapt, innovate and build. But resilience requires climate finance to reach #SIDS at the scale, speed, and on the terms required. "Implementation must be the measure of commitment." #COP31 must deliver. The 2030 Agenda must move faster. ABAS must turn into measurable progress.
