People seriously don’t understand how & what net worth is & how it works. Poor people think they are entitled to a person’s money & assets just because they have proximity. They want you to feed them fish instead of learning how to fish.
Billionaire Tyler Perry gave his own family 60 days to find jobs or lose his financial support. Despite being worth an estimated $1.4 billion, he refused to keep supporting relatives who weren't working. In the video below, Perry explains why he fired his own aunt and later gave other family members an ultimatum after his mother's death. He wanted them to become financially independent instead of relying on his fortune. One aunt regularly called asking for money, and Perry kept sending it until he offered her a job. But she repeatedly called in and failed to show up for work, so he eventually fired her. His mother had also asked him to support other relatives, and he continued helping them while she was alive. After she died in 2009, Perry sent them letters giving them 60 days to find employment or lose his financial support. According to Perry, every relative eventually found a job. He didn't care whether the jobs paid well because he wanted them to earn their own money and have something to feel proud of. Perry also recalled a relative getting angry when he refused to hand over $1 million. He believed that continually giving money to people who refused to work was making their dependence worse. A billionaire who could afford to support his entire family chose to make them earn their own living. If you had $1.4 billion, would you keep supporting unemployed relatives or give them the same 60-day ultimatum?

I'm lying prostrate in the floor. I'm so grateful to everyone for the support. I'm beyond speechless at the support Thank you. For Accountability, here is a video showing the current level the funds have gotten to. I'm very grateful Any extra amount received over 5M will go towards purchase of After surgery items, like Wheelchair, Crutches and whatever medication is needed. Also any extra amount will be channeled towards Physiotherapy and Recovery. I'm in tears typing this, but not tears of pain but one of gratefulness and Appreciation Things of Joy won't cease in your homes. P.S. Sorry for any background noise and my poor voice.🙏
Please Everyone, I need your help. From the accident, she has fractures in her hand, leg, and pelvic region. The doctor said the surgery will cost about ₦5 million. It is extensive and will be done in two phases. First they will operate on her hand and leg. When she recovers from that, they will do the pelvic region. It has been a painful experience. We have already spent so much on drugs and medications just to keep her stable this far. The pain is still there every day. A lot of you have followed this from the day of the accident. You have seen the updates. You know what this has been like. Please, if your heart can move you, even ₦1k, ₦2k, ₦5k, ₦10k, or ₦20k from you will help us. Every little bit carries weight right now. This is how to perform CPR if someone needs it around you. Share this video. You might save a life doing so. And tag a friend who needs to learn this. 1. Make sure the person is safe 2. Call for help 3. Check for breathing 4. Place the heel of your hand in between the chest 5. Compress chest 30 times 6. Raise jaw and breathe into mouth 7. Repeat this process until you get the required help

A Boston jury just ordered a scientist’s accuser to pay him $6 MILLION. For those who haven’t followed the case, here’s what happened. David Sabatini was a prominent MIT researcher running a major lab at the Whitehead Institute. In 2018 he began a sexual relationship with a younger colleague, Kristin Knouse. He says it was consensual and ended when he started seeing someone else. She later claimed it was coercive because of his power over her career, and that he fostered a sexualized lab environment. Whitehead investigated in 2021, found policy violations, and Sabatini resigned. His career was effectively destroyed. He sued her for defamation and interfering with his livelihood, arguing her statements were false. She countersued for sexual harassment. After a three-week trial, the jury (7 women, 6 men) sided with him, awarded the $6 million plus interest, and rejected her claims. Her lawyers say they will appeal. The verdict doesn’t erase Whitehead’s internal findings, but a jury has now concluded the core accusations against him were not true.

Dear Africans, Are You Protecting Your Interests? It's 2026 and the world has seen an indicted war criminal with an outstanding ICC arrest warrant address the UN General Assembly, months after a country's military invaded another country, kidnapped its sitting president and his wife, and locked them up like criminals in a prison in New York where they face trumped up charges. The state of geopolitics and international relations in the 21st century has never left less room for doubt about the fact that interests and power - not rules - are the true animating force behind how the world works. In this commentary, @big_mck asks Africans the obvious question - who is protecting African interests?

In some families, everyone sells what they have to support one person. Even the siblings' education are sacrificed. Those siblings would go look for any type of work to do - even the work that comes with humiliation, - and still send you money to support you. If people are crying about black tax, you better keep quiet. You're a product of black tax yourself. Always know the family you come from. Don't let privileged people tell you about black tax. People will tell you that "everybody will be alright even if you don't help." Na lie ooo. You would not have been alright if they didn't sacrifice for you. Ensure the people that looked after you are well looked after. Ensure your family can feed. Some of you blew up as superstars in whatever field you delved into. You're the light in your family. Accept your reality. Money eaten alone is not sweet.

There’s a particular reason loan companies in Nigeria are comfortable giving out millions of naira to people they’ve never met, and once you understand how their business model works, you’ll begin to see the entire lending industry differently. Think about it. OPay and other loan companies are practically begging people to borrow money. Meanwhile, some Nigerians owe three or four different loan apps at the same time. How do these companies calculate their risks? What happens when someone collects the money and disappears? And who exactly is making all the money in this equation? The more you think about it, the more you realise that some of the biggest businesses in the world are built around things most people barely understand. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and sometimes the most obvious explanation isn’t necessarily the whole story. Anyway, have you noticed that people who wear glasses always seem to know exactly where their glasses are, until the moment they actually need them? You can spend ten minutes searching the entire house, checking under your pillow, looking inside the fridge, and accusing everybody around you of moving your things. Only for you to discover that the glasses have been sitting on your head the entire time. 😭
If everyone owes loan companies in Naija, how are they making their gain?🤔 Even Opay and co advertising for people to borrow, how are they sure people won’t abscond with their money?
