I had a long and very enjoyable chat with the Progressive Rugby League podcast about my favourite rugby league books. Of course, some @NRL_Dragons books got a mention, as did scribes such as @collinstony and @Middleton_David ... tinyurl.com/yefx65d2

FUN FACT:
For over 100 years only two men have held the record as Australian rugby league's top try scorer.
Harold Horder (left) 152 career club tries: Held the record from 7th July, 1923 to 10th August, 1969.
Ken Irvine (right) 212 career tries: Held the record since 1969.

On 21 August 1974, Western Division won the Amco Cup. How coach Johnny King inspired them to beat Auckland, Canterbury, Manly & Penrith remains one of the game’s great fairytales. To meet the players today is to be reminded of everything that is good about country rugby league.

“There's always been debate about how State of Origin started and who came up with the concept. But we now know that State of Origin was in the minds of fans and players as long ago as 1945, and that they played after the war ended in PNG”.
