Playing around with polarized light coronagraph observations with @s0larish to measure line of sight distances and velocities of solar eruptions. This is prototype software, but its getting there #spaceweather

For LaTeX users writing #Solar & #Heliospheric science papers 📜 I made a page for instrument citations: middlecorona.com/notthemiddl… It may be useful, if you want me to add an instrument 🛰️🛰️, or make a change (apologies for errors) then let me know. I do this on a best effort basis.

The #AGU23 abstract deadline is approaching. Time to think about submitting an abstract to☀️SH033-Unravelling the Physics of the Middle Corona☀️looking forward to abstracts spanning the EM spectrum🌈incl: instruments, models, & observations (esp eclipse) agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/prel…

This is a great opportunity for somebody (like me) who really likes do geek out over data in my former group at NOAA NCEI. If you are a heliophysicist who wants to be part of an awesome team in Boulder, check this out: usajobs.gov/job/692920400

A continuous solar wind escapes from our Sun – a stream of plasma, or electrified gas, that fills interplanetary space. But did you know the solar wind comes in two different speeds? 🤔

Excited to share this new paper that shows how the structure of the solar wind is born in the #MiddleCorona!
Using detailed observations and advanced MHD simulations, authors @MPSGoettingen find that a coronal web above a region of coronal holes and active regions dynamically evolves and persistently drives the highly structured slow solar wind. Chitta et al.: nature.com/articles/s41550-0…

A lot of my work on the #MiddleCorona was the result of discoveries we made with SWAP. Seeing them al together on one place really highlights how great SWAP was (and is!) especially for an instrument the size of a shoebox!

Talk about the #MiddleCorona! SUVI really got the goods this time! ☀️🛰🤩
People who came to my talk at #TESS last week got a little preview of these awesome new #SUVI observations, but I'm really excited to be able to share these more widely now. Stay tuned — there's more coming and it's really, really exciting!
