I’m an accounting/finance guy who’s way more interested in operations. After a few years on the sidelines, I’ve started searching for a small business to acquire in the Nashville area.

When the neighbor kids knock on your door and ask if you have any work they can do to earn a bit of cash the answer is always yes.

Anybody have experience with an antique mall or other business with multiple vendors selling product through one POS? I’m helping a friend with an antique shop and need some POS recommendations.

When you’re looking at an acquisition, how much concentration is your threshold for risk? If two clients are 10% each of revenue, are you concerned? What’s your threshold for building in forgivable notes etc in case those clients leave?

Has anybody tried building a vertically integrated local home warranty co? HomeCo does home warranties and owns HVACCo, PlumbCo, ApplianceCo, etc and acts as lead flow. It’d have to be pretty localized, but that could be a selling point vs home warranty megacorps.

Cc: @WilsonCompanies , this seems like something you’ve probably looked into as a home services mogul.

My dishwasher went out Friday afternoon. The local repair service is booked solid through Wednesday morning. My appreciation of @Fundof1 as a genius has grown with every fork I scrub.

Everything goes smoothly at first. Then the title company finds an issue. Turns out the sellers bought from an estate and only got three of four of the inheritors to sign off on it. They’re working on it, but who knows how long it’ll take. 8/?

The seller still wants to sell, the buyer still wants to buy, this is salvageable. So we wait. Then Nashville is hit with a blizzard in early 20. There’s no heat in this house, and when we check on it there’s a waterfall from the kitchen ceiling. 9/?
Finishing up an LOI to send out tonight. In the meantime (many irons) I just wrapped up a tour of a SUPER cool potential venue space. 1928 build, lots of exposed brick. 3,000sf plus 1500 of roof deck. It could be a real gem, and I do miss being in the event biz.

Maybe contrarian take: most foods we see as “fancy” are mid at best. But caviar is never a bad idea. Always delicious and an improvement to most dishes.
Had a great call with @ConnorAbene yesterday. No spoilers, but he’s working on something cool! He’s a neat guy and very generous with his expertise (and coffee).

Time to kick into fundraising mode. Does anyone have recommendations on teasers/pitch decks or want to critique mine?
Heading into seller meeting this morning. Been doing one more deep dive into the info I have so far to prep for discussion. Music is my best friend for flow state work, and this is one of my favorite albums for it. 10/10
