So nice to be back diving in the Maldives! This time we are focusing on the shallows, and the Powder Blue Tang is one of the most common fishes here. It's found throughout the central and western Indian Ocean, and is just spectacular! #ichthyology

I am currently in the Maldives with the @calacademy #HopeForReefs team. Yesterday was a big day for me—my first scuba dive in decades. So great to be hanging out with experts like @CoralReefFish and seeing magnificent creatures like this one.

The beautiful Maldivian endemic Ecsenius minutus lives in very shallow water. They vary from light to dark color, and the light ones are especially pretty because their stunning eyes stand out even more! #ichthyology
