#OTD in 1942, this photo was taken during the Davison construction project, showing the nearly completed Woodward bridge over the freeway. The Davison, which runs east-west between M-10 & I-75, was arguably the first urban freeway constructed in the US: detroithistorical.org/learn/…

Mining required skill and trust. In a Quincy Mining Company photo, ca 1890, a team of miners demonstrated how to cut large pieces of mass copper. While one man knelt with a hand steel, two others swung at it with sledgehammers. Their work was done by candlelight. #MiningMonday

If you visited in the 70s or 80s, you might remember the Quincy #2 Shaft-Rockhouse like this. The Quincy landscape has undergone many changes since this photo was taken. In the background the dryhouse roof and Quincy clubhouse are intact. Can you spot today's Gift Shop? 📷LOC

It's summer blockbuster season. Did you ever go see major movies over at the Carmen Theater? That east side main stay operated at 5760 Schaefer from 1941 into the 1980s. The building was eventually torn down in the late 1990s. This photo of the Carmen was taken in July 1968.

Hotel Roosevelt advertisement from 1950. It was prominently located on N. Perry in downtown Pontiac, but burned down in 1968. Anyone have memories of the place? @michiganhist
