The Board of Education is deeply saddened by yesterdays events near the campuses of Denver East High School and the Emily Griffith Campus. Our hearts are with all those involved, their families, friends, and our community. We are supporting Superintendent Marrero and his team in providing resources to students and employees who may be in need of assistance.
In addition, the district will continue to collaborate with the Denver Police Department to determine why these events occurred and what measures can be put in place by the City of Denver, and our DPD partners to keep our streets safe.
As two board members the academic achievement levels of our students are always our primary focus. This week's release of state test scores has revealed some positive news but also some startling trends our school system must confront & remedy with urgency.tayandersonco.medium.com/two…

I love that @MichelleForDPS always centers us on what is best to ensure the wellness of students and staff. A healthy board leans into relationship and leverages their diversity as a necessary strength. We have an opportunity to dismantle silos that have not served children well.
Join Denver School Board Directors for an in-person town hall on the topic of innovation and teacher rights.
