this morning i walked past an older gentleman sitting in the shade on 34th Street, he was dressed not of this time and had with him the coolest looking polaroid camera i’ve ever seen - undeniable swag.
i asked him if i could take his photograph: “yeah son, but i need to see it after… my name is Louis Mendes. Google me.”
so i took his picture. he approved. i googled him. it turns out he’s kind of a big deal. he’s photographed Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Denzel Washington…
i asked him how he stays so young?! what he said to me i’ll keep to myself, so not to offend, but that shit made my day! this is why i’m in love with New York City: it’s the greatest city in the world and always will be.
