Today is a day I have long awaited - it is the release day of my new book, The Historical Jesus and the Temple: Memory, Methodology, and the Gospel of Matthew (Cambridge University Press). Here is the cover and an excerpt from Dale Allison's kind Foreword amzn.to/3ocxwrP
Ok, to learn our new secret Dominican hand gesture to indicate that a non-Dominican we are with is making a theological error, follow me. First, point up with your right hand. Then, stretch out that hand at your side. Then raise it up, palm down. Finally, put your hand on your knee. Now, we will each do this one step at a time in sequence and repeat.
It is great to see this new report about @Pontifex. Let us continue to pray for Pope Leo XIV.
Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass at noon on Friday in the room set up on the 10th floor of Gemelli Hospital, according to the Holy See Press Office.
Several members of Gemelli's medical and nursing staff attended the Mass, along with members of the Vatican City State Gendarmerie Corps.
"In his homily, the Pope thanked all the staff—doctors, nurses, and orderlies—for the work they do every day caring for patients in their frailty, and especially for what they have done and continue to do for him," read the statement.

Do I have to be that guy? This is obviously falling with style, not flying

Did not see myself agreeing with Alex Call today.
But he's right. That Sydney Sweeney commercial is completely unnecessary.
Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this.
People really don't understand what DMs are for and often post things that should have gone there instead. It's sort of an epidemic on X/Twitter.
Good for you, @ACAD_27. Thanks for speaking out. I feel precisely the same way. It's disgusting.

Could not agree more! I can’t remember it ever being this offensive.
Hey @MLB - wanna get more kids watching baseball?
Maybe start with the commercials.
Watching the playoffs tonight with my kids and here's the rundown:
- Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit
- The scariest movie trailer you've ever seen
- Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports
Leagues can't figure out why kids don't watch.
You don't need a Nickelodeon game. You're not the Savannah Bananas.
Just show baseball in a way I can leave on in my house.

Augustine links Jesus's vanishing before the eyes of the disciples at Emmaus to the Eucharist? How? I talk about that and much more in my latest video, which unpacks the story of Jesus's appearance to the two disciples in Luke 24: youtube.com/watch?v=kS-mE3G-…
Why does Catholic tradition link the story of the Risen Lord's appearance to the disciples on the road to Emmaus to the motif of the "heart of Jesus"? I discuss that here:
