2024: Tony Bennett retires before coaching a Virginia roster that looked very iffy. 2025: Bruce Pearl retires before coaching an Auburn roster that was going to be so much worse defensively. 2026: Dana Altman retires before coaching an Oregon roster that is very iffy on paper.

It was #OTD in 2003 that the #Cubs had a chance to win their first postseason series since the 1908 World Series, had they beat the Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS at Wrigley Field, but Chipper Jones hit 2 two run home runs in a 6-4 win over the Cubs. Eric Karros hit two home runs for the Northsiders.

Guys, don’t fret. We just have to sacrifice a Purdue loss and an entire college football season to win a college basketball national championship. It will all work out in the end. #illini

Absolutely horrendous play calling to end that drive. 3 straight runs after Purdue hasn’t stopped pass once on entire drive. Don’t deserve to win. Just pathetic. #Illini

From a source: the Cowboys are giving up a sixth-round pick in 2027 and a second rounder in 2028 for Porter.

The perfect ending for Justin Verlander. His daughter runs out to the mound and he walks off with his family. Feels like a movie.

Yep. Makes no sense. It’s not a traditional night anyway, so the casual fan has zero idea there is even a game tonight. Definitely hurts ratings.

Haven’t watched a second of NFL opening night. And by the looks of X, I’m not missing anything. Purely idiotic to play a game on Wednesday night.

I told y’all to just shut down the season after what happened on Sunday in Philly. Since then, the #STLCards have been outscored 18-1 in 5 1/3 innings with a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes on 3 consecutive hitters to close out the game. Cooked.

Sources: The Big Ten is set to pass a rule today that doesn’t allow players to return from the NFL and play for a Big Ten school. Anyone who has declared for the NFL Draft and did not withdraw, appeared on an NFL roster or signed a contract with a pro league cannot be on a Big Ten roster.

Leave her alone. Stop plastering her picture everywhere like she’s a perp. This was a horrible, horrible accident. Her life has already been ruined by this. Why would you torture someone like this when she’s down?

Since this, Joshua Báez has homered two more times. Three major league plate appearances, three home runs -- the first player in big league history to go deep three times in his first game. One to left, one to center, one to right. Best debut for a hitter in big league history.

Joshua Báez has rare power and took the first big league pitch he saw nearly 450 feet to dead center. He’s going to be a a real problem. With JJ Wetherholt, Jordan Walker, Alec Burleson and Iván Herrera already, Cardinals have the makings of something good

Joshua Báez's 449-foot HR is the longest by a player on the first pitch he has seen in his career since pitch tracking began in 2008.

Joshua Báez homers on the first pitch he sees in his Major League debut 👏 He is the 11th player in Cardinals franchise history to hit a HR in first career AB, and the fourth visiting player at Wrigley Field to hit a HR in his first career AB. His HR was measured at 449 feet, only HR Derby champion Jordan Walker has hit a longer homer for the Cardinals this season 💪 (via @MLB)
