Me and a few buddies had a challenge to watch every team play alongside their diaspora community in London @Awayathome22
It took us to all corners of our city and met some amazing people. We captured it all on film, check it out👇
🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT
Our London World Cup journey is complete!
We aimed to watch every team with each nation's national community living in London
Excited to share our experiences in this 🧵#WorldCup2022 #London

Doorknocking today with the Druids Heath Forum in Brum to talk to residents about housing conditions. Evidence of horrendous failings by Birmingham City Council. One block is covered in sewage. The smell is unbearable. It’s been like that for over 2 weeks. Dave from the Forum:
💔 Neil changed my life. He believed in me and I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for his agitation, guidance and kindness.
It’s incredible to think just how many people can say the same.
Sending ❤️ to his family and @CitizensUK. See you all in the coming days x
Devastated to announce our founder @NeilJamesonUK has passed away. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
Such a great legacy in UK democracy and social justice, Neil often shared this famous quote - “It is not hope that gives rise to action, it is action that inspires hope”

Most of us haven’t had a proper pay rise for a decade. The nation’s safety net has been slashed.
Our budgets are being squeezed like never before.
We need a new plan.
That’s why we’re launching #StopTheSqueeze - a real plan for an affordable Britain.

Other think tanks are available.
A massive moment for @iealondon. They’ve been advocating these policies for years. They incubated Truss and Kwarteng during their early years as MPs. Britain is now their laboratory.

Britain started the day with a threadbare social safety net and more than a third of the entire population unable to afford the essentials. We end the day as we began, with the spring statement having done nothing to support low-income people. @MichaeIPugh on #SpringStatement

23.4 million people - 34% of the UK - will be struggling to stay afloat next month. To date @RishiSunak’s response to the #CostOfLiving crisis has been woefully inadequate.
Below, 4 key areas to look out for in the #SpringBudget, & actions the Chancellor should take 🧵👇🏾

Grim new analysis from @NEF.
In 2022 UK, struggling to afford essentials is a mainstream reality.
This April, 23.4 million people, more than 1/3 (34%) of the population & almost 1/2 (48%) of all children, will be making sacrifices day to day.

There is a way that we can make sure everyone has enough to make ends meet, and can live in a warm, comfortable home that doesn’t pollute the planet.

Want the *honest* state of play on #LevellingUp today?
@NEF’s new report shows a staggering 60% of the country needs to be #LevelledUp, and sets out a 5-point policy shift to really do the job, backed by 6 metro mayors.

What if everyone was on #UniversalCredit? 💡
And what if it was underpinned by an unconditional weekly cash payment? 💰
Those are two of the ideas that make up a #LivingIncome

The links between #BasicIncome #UBI and minimum income guarantees are explored by @DominicCaddick in his latest @NEF blog and how a #LivingIncome can be a way of achieving the best elements of both /5

Whilst this flailing government makes clear it has run out of ideas on social security with sanctions being nothing but a way to failure and further poverty, it gives me hope that there are other ideas out there that show it doesn’t have to be this way /1

It’s similar to what we at @NEF are calling for - a #LivingIncome which you can read more about livingincome.org.uk and keep 👀 peeled for more news from us tomorrow with work from @PollardTom @alfie_stirling @DominicCaddick /3
Whether it’s Guaranteed Decent Income, #LivingIncome, #BasicIncome or Minimum Income Guarantee - this is the future of the UK’s social security system and I’m confident hope and solidarity will beat out the desperate attempts of the government to divide us #CostOfLiving /4
