As another Monday winds down, we’re feeling especially thankful for the farmers, fuel providers, elevator crews, truck drivers, mechanics, and so many others working long hours—and plenty of weekends—to bring in another year’s bountiful harvest. Harvest season takes a whole community. From the fields to the grain elevators and beyond, every person plays a part in moving crops where they need to go. For the biodiesel industry, it’s a reminder of how closely connected agriculture and fuel are, with farmers often using biodiesel in their equipment to harvest crops like soybeans that become food, fuel, feed, and more. To everyone putting in the extra hours this season, thank you. We’re grateful for your hard work and all that you do to keep our communities and our country moving.

It’s another manic Monday—but not every decision has to be! Lowering emissions is easy with biodiesel and renewable diesel. These domestically produced, low-carbon fuels are already helping public and private fleets, vessel operators, data centers, mining and construction companies, and countless others make an immediate difference. They’re available today, can be used with existing diesel vehicles, equipment, and fueling infrastructure, and can significantly reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and engine-out pollutants compared with petroleum diesel. Whether starting with B20, exploring higher biodiesel blends, or choosing renewable diesel, fuel buyers have options to reduce their carbon footprints while continuing to rely on the equipment they already know and trust. Cleaner air doesn’t always require waiting for new technology to become available or affordable. Sometimes, it begins with simply choosing a better fuel!

What does it take to get sustainable aviation fuel from a field to a flight? A whole lot of teamwork! The Minnesota SAF Hub is bringing farmers, fuel producers, refiners, airlines, and other partners together to build that supply chain. One recent milestone: a new blending facility at Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend Refinery can blend up to 30 million gallons of neat SAF a year and send it through existing pipelines to Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP). Delta has set a goal of using SAF for 10% of its fuel by 2030. Michigan is part of the story, too. In 2024, SAF traveled by pipeline to both MSP and Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), with Delta covering the fuel cost for its flights at both airports. Michigan lawmakers have also advanced proposals for incentives to support SAF production and blending. That’s the exciting part: SAF’s journey involves more than what goes into the tank. It takes feedstocks, production, refining, blending, pipelines, airport access—and buyers willing to help get the fuel off the ground. The more partners come aboard, the more opportunity there is to build a reliable SAF market and watch demand take flight!

As diesel demand continues to rise and supplies tighten, biobased diesel is helping stretch every gallon further. Biodiesel and renewable diesel add billions of gallons to America’s fuel supply—meeting approximately 9% of U.S. on-road diesel demand in 2024. These fuels supplement limited petroleum diesel inventories while keeping trucks, buses, farm equipment, emergency vehicles, ships, and other essential operations moving. With U.S. distillate inventories well below the five-year seasonal average and increased demand expected from the fall harvest and winter heating season, every additional gallon matters. Biobased diesel offers a practical, domestically produced solution that works with today’s engines and fueling infrastructure while reducing lifecycle emissions and supporting American farmers, fuel producers, and rural communities. Biobased diesel cannot resolve today’s global supply challenges by itself—but without it, supplies would be tighter and consumers would face even greater pressure. It isn’t a future solution. It is strengthening America’s fuel supply today.

Today marks 25 years since the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001. We pause to remember the lives taken that day, the rescue and recovery workers who later fell ill or passed because of their service, along with the families and communities forever changed by their loss. We honor the remarkable courage of firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, public servants, members of the armed forces, and countless ordinary individuals who ran toward danger. Their bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness continue to remind us of the strength of our people when we stand together. Twenty-five years later, we remain united in remembrance, and we will never forget.

This Labor Day, we recognize the hardworking people who keep America’s biomass-based diesel industry moving—from farmers, plant operators, engineers, and laboratory technicians to truck drivers, fuel marketers, terminal workers, equipment technicians, and countless others across the supply chain. Their work produces billions of gallons of additional diesel fuel, expanding our domestic fuel supply, easing pressure on petroleum diesel markets, and helping keep fuel prices more competitive for fleets, businesses, and consumers. The benefits reach far beyond the fuel pump. Biodiesel and renewable diesel strengthen demand for agricultural products and recycled feedstocks, support American manufacturing, create skilled jobs, generate tax revenue, encourage investment in rural communities, and provide new markets for farmers and renderers. They also strengthen domestic energy security while helping fleets reduce greenhouse gas emissions and harmful tailpipe pollution. Today, we thank everyone whose labor turns America's grown and recycled resources into cleaner-burning fuel, stronger communities, and a more resilient economy. Happy Labor Day!

Happy Thoughtful Thursday! Biobased diesel supports more than cleaner air and greater energy security—it supports American livelihoods. The U.S. biodiesel and renewable diesel industry supports approximately 107,400 jobs, generates $5.8 billion in annual wages, and contributes $42.4 billion in economic activity, according to a study commissioned by Clean Fuels Alliance America. Those benefits reach far beyond fuel-production facilities. They support farmers, oilseed processors, livestock producers, renderers, recycled-oil collectors, truck drivers, equipment manufacturers, engineers, terminal operators, fuel distributors, and skilled tradespeople across the country. Every gallon of domestically produced biobased diesel helps strengthen a supply chain built on American workers, American agriculture, and American energy. That's something worth thinking about the next time you see biodiesel or renewable diesel powering a truck, bus, tractor, construction backhoe, or marine vessel. Learn more: MiAdvancedBiofuels.com

It's Fuel Up Friday! America’s biobased diesel industry does much more than produce cleaner fuel — it supports jobs, boosts rural economies, creates new markets for U.S. farmers, and drives billions of dollars in economic activity across the country. According to Clean Fuels Alliance America, the U.S. biobased diesel industry generated $42.4 billion in economic activity in 2024. The industry also supported over 107,400 jobs and contributed $6 billion in wages. These economic benefits extend beyond fuel production facilities. The industry sustains jobs across the entire supply chain — including soybean farming, oilseed processing, rendering, transportation, logistics, engineering, equipment manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and fuel distribution. Biobased diesel fuels such as biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) are also driving investment in new soybean crush facilities, feedstock processing infrastructure, and advanced fuel production capacity across the United States. As demand for low-carbon fuels continues to grow, these investments create new opportunities for American agriculture, enhance U.S. energy security, and provide good-paying jobs through domestically produced fuels. From farmers and truck drivers to refinery workers and fleet operators, America’s clean fuels industry demonstrates that cleaner air and economic growth can go hand in hand.
