The Nigerian military draws heavily from Western military structures, including the American model, although there are notable differences, particularly in how the Navy and Marine Corps operate within the US system.
In the US Army, however, not every military occupation serves the same purpose. Infantry soldiers (11B) are the backbone of ground combat operations, and many other military specialties exist to support their effectiveness on the battlefield. That does not make those other roles unimportant; it simply means that different jobs serve different operational needs.
Of course, soldiers across different specialties receive basic combat training, including marksmanship and essential battlefield skills. However, there is a significant difference between the training requirements of combat personnel and those of soldiers in non-combat roles. Their physical assessments and combat preparation reflect those differences.
The real problem with your argument is that it reveals a lack of understanding of how military occupational specialties work, both in the Nigerian military and, potentially, in the very army you serve. Military comparisons should be based on knowledge, not assumptions or the desire to ridicule another country’s soldiers.
Yes, the US military may have superior equipment, advanced technology, and greater logistical capabilities. Nobody needs to deny that. But having access to better technology does not automatically make an individual soldier more physically capable, more disciplined in basic battle drills, or more effective in direct combat.
Equipment can give a military an advantage, but it does not automatically make every soldier behind that equipment a better soldier. Before you dismiss Nigerian soldiers, understand the difference between technological superiority and individual combat proficiency. They are not the same thing, and confusing the two only exposes the weakness of your argument.
