Today, we launch the Afghanistan Accountability Archive: a record of Taliban atrocities and women's resistance.
A legacy of brave work by my colleagues inside Afghanistan. May it serve justice and uphold our promise of accountability.

Good morning to waking up to this news! At a time when multilateralism and international law are under attack, the recognition of Navi Pillay’s lifelong work for justice and accountability is especially meaningful. We are honored to have her as a signatory of @EGACampaign
As we fight for the codification of gender apartheid, we are also confronting the broader struggle to defend the international legal order and the principles it was built to uphold. This recognition, at such a critical moment, is a powerful reminder of why this work matters more than ever.

As UN High-Level Week comes to a close, my heart is full being here in New York with the women of Afghanistan, raising our voices for dignity, rights, and agency while also defending the credibility of the international legal order by upholding it.
Away from home, I find home in standing together with them.
Thank you to my friend @Malala for generously lending her voice to our cause and being the strongest ally of women of Afghanistan.
And in these difficult times, gratitude to Ambassador @faiq_naseer for keeping the light of our diplomatic mission shining.

You know who the court is going after?
The Taliban. Ugandan war lord Joseph Kony. The Myanmar military killing the Rohingya.
With this move, the Trump admin has decided to throw decades of diplomatic work into the bin overnight.
It is deeply immoral.

Today marks the five-year anniversary of the Taliban banning women and girls from Afghanistan from secondary education.
Afghanistan is the only country in the world where girls and women are formally banned from secondary and higher education. Each year that this ban remains in place, women and girls from Afghanistan continue to lose their fundamental right to schooling opportunities. It's time for the international community to call this treatment what it is: gender apartheid.

Four years since Mahsa Jina Amini was killed in state custody, Iran has increasingly become a society of grieving families.
From Jina and the lives stolen during the ‘Woman Life Freedom’ uprising to the thousands massacred in January 2026, every atrocity has widened the circle of those demanding justice.
For every life the Islamic Republic takes, it leaves behind families, friends and communities who will not forget.
Every atrocity fuels the very movement it seeks to extinguish.
The memory of Jina, Nika, Sarina, Kian, Mohsen, Majidreza and countless others lives on in a new generation determined to carry the struggle for freedom forward.

STOP THE DEPORTATIONS!
Today, 5 years ago, the last U.S. soldier left Afghanistan, following the U.S. government’s irresponsible withdrawal and negotiations with a terrorist group that enabled the establishment of the Taliban’s gender apartheid regime.
Five years later, it hits hard to see people who fled Taliban persecution, people who fought alongside the U.S. as allies in the U.S. war against terrorism, being deported to uncertainty and vulnerability.
Over a 10-day period, the Trump administration sent more than 100 deportees from Afghanistan, Cuba, Nicaragua and other nations to eight countries across Africa, expanding its "third country" deportation campaign, according to internal U.S. government documents obtained by CBS News.
Three Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation flights, the government documents show, dropped off dozens of men and women expelled from the U.S. in several African countries including Burundi, Cameroon, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.
