Prediction: A vampire attack on today’s social media networks (facebook, Twitter/X) will be what suddenly ramps the world on chain — to a blockchain-based social media network.
This could be deployed by rewarding creators with network tokens by 1) initial sign up and 2) posting.
Initial sign up reward could be a function of the new user’s number of followers on other social media networks. This also solves bot problem (0 followers, 0 sign-up reward).
Market entry for web3 social network:
Creators Multi-homing, posting same content to multiple networks, is common today. Specifically with short form video. TikTok, Insta, Youtube, etc. share this market.
Hence, best entry for new sm network is short-form video.
Why?…
Reading @cdixon’s book rn. Quick thought:
If corporate networks (FB, Twitter) don’t let devs build on top of their social media platforms today, but blockchain networks replace them, enabling new apps to be built on social media platforms — what will those apps be?
Look to…
Intuitively, one can probably look to past startups that tried building on top of social media platforms (FB, Twitter) before the dev support cut killed and start brainstorming from there
Yesterday I learned that many startups tried to build on top of Twitter back in the day but then Twitter suddenly closed its dev support. All those companies died, VC stopped funding any company building on top of a platform — noting “platform risk”.
Thoughts on everyday pmts:
Today, we carry around an IOU card. This is because we don’t want to carry around cash (paper money).
With crypto, we can finally walk around with cash again.
1/ Decentralized identities (DIDs) prioritize user privacy, security, and control. DIDs are decentralized, meaning that users can own and control their identity information.
6/ Another challenge facing decentralized identities is user adoption. There is a need for user-friendly interfaces and tools that make it easy for individuals to manage their decentralized identities.
Blockchain solves eSports' biggest problem: Gamers are subject to rules they cannot control.
Below, we'll explore how blockchain technology can decentralize game ownership, giving players a say in a game's rules and its "state."
