Only about 7% of patients with cancer in the U.S. participate in cancer treatment clinical trials. That matters, not only for the patients who may miss the opportunity to consider a clinical trial, but for the future of cancer care. Low participation can slow research, delay answers to important scientific questions, and make it harder to turn promising discoveries into new treatment options. One piece of the challenge is access. Finding trials that may fit an individual patient can be complicated, especially when trial information and eligibility requirements are difficult to navigate. The KidneyCAN Clinical Trial Navigator was created to make that process easier for people with kidney cancer. The free, AI-powered tool uses information about your diagnosis, treatment history, and location to help identify potential trial matches you can explore and discuss with your healthcare team. Better access to clinical trials can mean more opportunities for patients—and faster progress toward tomorrow’s kidney cancer treatments. A #KidneyCancer diagnosis can affect the entire family. While caregivers often focus on supporting loved ones, their own needs matter too. As a caregiver for his wife, Mark learned that prioritizing his own well-being helped him show up more fully for the people he loves. Discover stories like Mark's, along with tailored resources to support caregivers on Kompass, a resource created in partnership with @kcCURE, @kidneycan, @KidneyCancer, @nkf, & @EisaiUS. #KidneyCancer can bring a lot of questions, and you don’t have to navigate them alone. On Friday, October 9, the Judy Nicholson Foundation is bringing patients, caregivers, and kidney cancer experts together for "Hope in Motion: Empowering Patients and Caregivers," a FREE day of education, connection, and conversation. Throughout the day, experts will discuss topics that matter to people facing kidney cancer, including diagnosis and treatment options, new research, rare kidney cancers, clinical trials, imaging, nutrition, managing side effects, palliative care, and more. Most importantly, attendees will have opportunities to bring their own questions, hear directly from experts, and connect with other patients and caregivers who understand the kidney cancer experience. Registration is FREE, but space is limited! Learn more and reserve your seat: jnfkidneycancer.org/jax-symp… #AcceleratingCures

Clinical research. Translational research. You may hear both terms when learning about #KidneyCancer research, but what do they actually mean? While they approach research in different ways, both play an important role in advancing our understanding of kidney cancer and improving care for patients. Translational research helps bridge the gap between discoveries in the lab and potential applications for patients, while clinical research studies health, disease, and new approaches to care in people. And the two often work hand in hand. What researchers learn in the lab can help shape clinical studies, while observations from patients can lead to new questions and discoveries. #AcceleratingCures

NEWS: There’s a new treatment option for some people living with advanced #KidneyCancer. The FDA has approved the combination of belzutifan (Welireg, by @Merck) and lenvatinib (Lenvima, by @Eisai) for adults with advanced renal cell carcinoma (#RCC) with a clear cell component whose cancer has progressed after certain types of immunotherapy. Over the past decade, treatment options for advanced kidney cancer have grown significantly. But when cancer progresses after #immunotherapy, patients may face fewer options for what comes next. This FDA approval gives eligible patients another treatment option to discuss with their healthcare team. Dr. M. Catherine Pietanza, Vice President, Global Clinical Development, Merck Research Laboratories, says: “This approval represents real progress for patients and further reinforces the importance of a HIF-2α inhibitor plus TKI combination as a new treatment approach for these patients.” “Patients facing advanced renal cell carcinoma need treatment options at every stage of their journey, and the complexity of managing this disease over time makes every treatment decision meaningful,” said Dr. Corina Dutcus, Senior Vice President, Oncology Global Clinical Development Lead at Eisai. #AcceleratingCures

During KidneyCAN Advocacy Days, advocate Andrew Allers brought a deeply personal piece with him to the office of his representative, Congressman Jim Himes. Andrew is living with stage IV kidney cancer with brain metastases. His piece, Persistence, is a digital composite created from different slices of his own brain MRI, transforming part of his experience with cancer into a powerful visual representation of why continued progress in research matters. He left the piece with Congressman Himes' office, along with an artist statement that closes with a message at the heart of why we're here: “Cancer knows no party lines—funding for the research keeping people like me alive shouldn't either.” #AcceleratingCures

Every advancement in cancer care begins with research. On #WorldCancerResearchDay, we recognize the scientists, clinicians, patients, advocates, and supporters whose contributions help turn questions into discoveries. In #KidneyCancer, research has transformed our understanding of the disease and continues to open new possibilities for diagnosis, treatment, and care. But there is still more to learn and more progress to make. #AcceleratingCures
