The Retired Police Dog Benevolent Fund for Merseyside is run by unpaid volunteers: All money raised is by public donations. This money goes towards helping those who have taken on a retired dog with any veterinary costs incurred.
See below for more details.
We are so very proud of @MerPolDogs RPD Quga who was awarded Lifetime Achievement Medal of Honour 🏅🐕
Thanks to @ServiceDogsUK @The_NFRSA & all involved, and well done to all the nominees. ❤️👏🐾
Part 2.
The NFRSA, alongside @ServiceDogsUK, hosted the second annual Service Dogs Conference and Awards this week - our second reel shows the highlights of the Gala Awards Dinner, and what a night it was.
The stories were incredibly moving and each winner took home a medal, and every finalist received a beautiful framed print to mark their achievement.
We are very grateful to our headline sponsor @Jollyestweets as well as our bronze sponsors @DogsTrust and Liz Gill Mortgages.
Brilliantly MC’d by @TomGaymor - photographed by @VicPictoria and filmed by @CotswoldTV - all of whom donated their time and talents, just amazing.
A night to remember, celebrating the remarkable role dogs play in our lives.
Congratulations to every finalist, a huge thank you to the judges (not easy) and we look forward to seeing you next year. Details and dates to be revealed soon!
Thank you all for being with us.
We can’t wait for Part 2 Thank you @The_NFRSA @ServiceDogsUK
Part 1. Wow - what a day!
We were delighted to co-host the Service Dogs Conference and Awards 2026 alongside our friends @ServiceDogsUKz.
Attended by inspirational speakers Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton Chief Fire Officer of @HantsIOW_fire Author & Psychologist - @PipTomson - Dog Trainer to the Stars - Royal Veterinary Army Corps - Chloe Hammond & Ocho - and Peter Sage - who educated, moved, and enlightened delegates.
Follow- or check back to see part 2 - the awards!
All these stunning pics were captured by @VicPictoria and we are incredibly grateful as Victoria has done it from a place of love - making all her photographs available to everyone who attended at no charge. We are devoted to her. 💜

25 years ago, they woke up to what they thought would be an ordinary day.
Within hours, everything changed.
And without hesitation, they went into the rubble.
Alongside their handlers, these extraordinary dogs searched through the devastation of 9/11 - hour after hour, day after day, they worked tirelessly to find any survivors of the Twin Towers.
Any…
Their determination, their loyalty, their diligence and their love - even now, it is incredibly moving.
Some would carry the effects of that work for the rest of their lives.
Today, every one of those dogs has gone.
But what they did must never be forgotten.
To the dogs of 9/11, and to the remarkable men and women who worked beside them - we thank you for your service, your courage and your sacrifice.
25 years on - we remember you.
We always will. 🇺🇸🐾
Happy International Dog Day to everyone from RPD Hugo and all @MerPolDogs RPDs 🎖
Wally Sherrington, a respected @MerseyPolice @MerPolDogs handler was laid to rest today. His legacy continues to live on through @MerPolDogs and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
❤️ RIP Wally
Wally's family have very kindly chosen @MerseysideRPD as a recipient of donations in his memory. We are incredibly grateful for their support and honoured to be part of remembering his life and contribution.💙🙏
