Just throwing this out there: The highlight of my day was a call with @LocalThunk to congratulate him on the @BalatroGame nominations.
A single dev who made a GOTY nominee! That's part of what makes this industry so great.
For the most part, I won't be posting here any more. Thank you to people who have followed me - I'll still exist elsewhere on the internet.
The office now has a 3D printer, which some of my coworkers are enthusiastically using.
Me? Can't think of a damn thing I want printed.
There is no such thing as an RPG!

There are many games I haven't played. Which means, still a lot of things to discover!

In the computer space, I don't think anyone quite agrees what an RPG is. Whenever I see a definition, it is generally employed to say this game is NOT a CRPG.
Ergo, there are no computer RPGs.
Yeah. I might even think about producing something now. (Though when you get down to it, I'm mostly disengaged as a creator these days).

I have never played a Persona game. But the games I played last year that have (apparently) prepared me for how combat works in Metaphor: ReFantazio?
Final Fantasy I-V. (Pixel Remasters).
This weekend in my gaming:
* ran my D&D 5E Greyhawk game
* played Starfield: Shattered Space
* played Yakuza 3
* started Metaphor: ReFantazio
Tonight: D&D 5E Empire of the Ghouls!
It is hard to properly express how bad the ally AI system is in Starfield. Trying to fight a difficult combat while your companion is ALWAYS walking in front of your line of fire is incredibly frustrating.

Thank you Michał 🙏
Games of Phantom Liberty quality are possible in teams where people are taken care off, talent is retained, hired only because of competency, and there is no bullshit agenda (of any kind).
Only thing I want is to make a remarkable art that moves you deeply.
Seems we live in times where anyone can record complete nonsense and make a story out of it. CDPR talent leaving? We have the lowest rotation of people in recent years. DEI-driven recruitment? We hire based on merit and talent alone, just as we make games driven by artistic vision alone. Why did we choose UE? Because it enables us to work on our games more efficiently and we remain cutting edge tech-wise. The Witcher 3’s director left? Well, yeah, more than 2 years ago… Now, can we stop looking for conspiracy theories and go back to making cool stuff?

I talk to an Ubisoft insider about the current state of the industry as well as another source which tells me places like CD PROJEKT RED & even Funcom which is making Dune Awakening are in dire trouble.
And yes we are officially in a game crash.

surprise surprise, Meta's AI moderation tools suck. Instagram and Threads moderation is out of control, as posts and accounts are disappearing randomly theverge.com/2024/10/9/24266…
