The Architects. A name given to an ancient empire that once spanned nearly the entire galaxy, as evidenced by the countless sites and discoveries. Ruins and remnants can be found across a great number of star systems. Even the smallest artifact is of inestimable value: the slightest recovered data, the merest device still in working condition would be enough to grant a decisive technological leap to any empire that claimed it. Possessing technology that appeared among the most advanced ever developed, the Architects’ empire seems to have collapsed upon itself without warning and without any coherent explanation, even as excavations showed them at the very height of their civilization. There are no bodies. No mummies. No bones. The Architects appear to have simply vanished. Or perhaps… not all of them.
