After 7.5 years with #BBC, I’m starting a new chapter. Thrilled to join @WFP_Kenya as Head of Communications. This isn’t a departure from storytelling, it’s a shift in how and where those stories are told. With a focus on narratives rooted in building resilience. #ChangingLives

What does real partnership look like? It’s not about who gets the credit, but what becomes possible when we bring different strengths together.
Each contribution is different, but what we achieve together can be extraordinary. 👇🏾

I had spent 3 years abroad working double shifts, skipping sleep, eating instant noodles at 2: 00 a.m. in a country where nobody knew my name and nobody was losing sleep over learning it.
Every single month, without fail, I sent money home for the house renovation, for his car, for the business he swore would be our future together. I did not complain. I did not cheat. I did not go quiet. I stayed faithful to a man on a phone screen thousands of miles away....

Kakuma ilikuwa vibes tupu! 🔥🍖 WFP joined the community for a cookout filled with laughter, great conversations, and delicious food.
Food has a unique way of bringing people together. Beyond sharing a meal, we shared stories, strengthened connections and created lasting memories.
Here's a look at how the day unfolded. ⤵️

Forget the stereotypes.
Refugees are farmers.
Refugees are traders.
Refugees are entrepreneurs.
This weekend at Market Day in Kakuma, we followed produce from the fields to the market stalls.
By the end of the day, most of it was sold.
That's not just a market. That's an economy at work. See what we bought! 👇👇

What does safety mean to a #refugee?
On #WorldRefugeeDay, refugees in Kakuma,#Kenya remind us that safety is more than shelter.
It is also self-reliance and opportunity, especially after being forced to flee home in search of protection. ⤵️

For Farhiya, recovery meant more than putting food on the table. 🍛
After losing much of her livestock during drought, WFP 's cash assistance helped her family repay debts from a local food kiosk, purchase essential items and cover school fees.
💸 gives families the flexibility to prioritise their own needs, whether that means food, education or rebuilding after crisis.

The school meals programme has grown across the country, supporting learning where it’s needed most. 🍛
For many children, a meal at school means the chance to focus, learn, and thrive.
That is why @WFP is partnering with the government to support school meals this term in Wajir and Marsabit counties. 📚✍️

What happens when refugees are supported?
🍚 Dependency on food aid reduces
🌾 Self-reliance grows
🍉 Nutritious food becomes more accessible
💸 Incomes increase
This is why WFP and @FAOKenya with support from the @EUinKenya, is helping refugees transition from aid dependency to self-reliance. By establishing water pans and greenhouses for irrigation, communities are empowered to grow crops, farm sustainably, and build resilient livelihoods.
