Mercenary on the Winds

I like to imagine the lives of the ancients as every bit as vibrant and witty as ours today; they simply lacked our modern conveniences and lived at a slower pace, with knowledge rooted in religion and mythology rather than modern science. Often, people view history through a restrictive lens, believing it must fit perfectly within the frameworks defined by historical records. They assume people lived exactly as the texts describe, without exception, leading to the belief that ancient life was utterly dull. But consider this: how many wonderful moments of your own life have gone unrecorded? These are the 'insignificant' details of daily life that make your existence brilliant—the very things future generations will never see. Would the people of the past have been any different?
