Attended a session on 'Male Allies for Gender Equality' by @male_allies - lots of interesting discussion, around why male allies need to be involved, and why many don't feel able to do so. Companies that are #diverse and #inclusive are more open, collaborative and innovative

Historically, women have not been invited to the decision making table across the board, which forced women to advocate for themselves by themselves. That all changed with the @HeForShe movement. For effective advocacy, women need men to amplify their voices.

Universities have a role in driving gender balance in STEM because the world needs all the talent it has to help solve complex global problems. One way to achieve this is to have more tenured female professors and postdoctoral fellows. Role modelling also helps. @amydiehl
Women receive only 39% of life science postdoc fellowships & 18% of full professorships. The more elite a male scientist is, the fewer women he trains. When it comes to solving difficult problems, like pandemics, such imbalances hurt us all.

"Some men have the opinion that for women to gain equality then they, in turn, must lose equality. This cannot be further from the truth."
@MsMagazine asked men why they care about gender equality & how men can do their part.

Brad Johnson and @davidgsmithphd are the authors of #GoodGuys, a book that shows men how to be allies to women at work (out Oct. 13 from @HarvardBiz). They spoke with Forté about how we can build a culture of #allyship. #MenAsAllies
