Thankful for the opportunity to make a Valedictory speech in SA Parliament. It was lovely to have family and friends in the seats beside me. I took the opportunity to advocate for better education for children to protect them from abuse. EXCERPT of speech

If the shocking findings from the Aust Child Maltreatment Study do not lead to urgent action by governments, then the question is: What will it take to make child wellbeing a national priority in this country? canberratimes.com.au/story/8…

When our child protection system is in crisis. When foster and kinship carers are treated like second-class citizens. When 700 children are in residential care at $500,000 per child. When we have waited for over 2 years for the election promise of changes to the Child Protection Act. While the Minister ignores the pleas of carers throughout the State. The Minister for Child Protection (and Sport, Recreation and Racing) is squealing with glee because she got through estimates. This is a disgrace. The Minister must resign.
