@RwandaCAA and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on airworthiness certification, witnessed by Minister of State @claudienBI.
This milestone follows the demonstration flight of the EHang EH216-S pilotless air taxi in Kigali during the 9th Aviation Africa Summit in September 2025, the first of its kind on the continent.
The MoU establishes a framework for technical cooperation on aircraft certification and continued airworthiness. It will reinforce RCAA's oversight capacity, including for emerging categories such as eVTOL air taxis and heavier drones.
Cooperation will proceed in phases, based on technical assessments and validation activities.

The inaugural flight was received at Kigali International Airport with a traditional water salute, in the presence of officials from the Government of Rwanda and representatives of the Rwandan aviation sector, together with a high-level delegation from the Sultanate of Oman.

Today in Muscat, Amb. CG Dan Munyuza, together with the Honorary Consul of Rwanda to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Hamood Bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, participated in the launch of Oman's low-cost carrier, @SalamAir's direct flights between Muscat and Kigali, alongside SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Acting CEO of Oman Airports Authority, Nasser Ahmed Al Sharji, and other aviation stakeholders.
The new bi-weekly service (every Tuesday and Thursday), with its inaugural flight departing tomorrow, 21 July, makes Kigali SalamAir's second destination in Africa, further expanding air connectivity between the Gulf and East Africa.
In his remarks, the Ambassador underscored that the direct flight is "not only a transport link, but a channel for people-to-people relations, trade and investment," adding that it will further strengthen the friendship and growing bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Rwanda and the Sultanate of Oman.

1) Les présentations de tous les candidats ont été faites dans un esprit très constructif. En effet, les trois femmes africaines et le gentleman européen ont pu dérouler leur programme, sans confrontation aucune entre pays ou candidats. Les même personnes ont d'ailleurs pu échanger, de façon cordiale et courtoise, lors de la réception organisée par le Président cambodgien de la CMF;

Here’s is my full quote on Rwanda’s nuclear energy agenda, it was unfortunately chopped up to fit the writer’s storyline:
“Rwanda is working with a variety of global partners to develop our civil nuclear capabilities. In addition to Russian company Rosatom, a world leader in construction of nuclear power plants, last week at the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit in Kigali, Rwanda signed an MoUs with the US Government, to advance civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries, as well as other agreements between Rwanda’s Atomic Energy Board and companies from the United States, South Africa and Austria.
In Rwanda, feasibility studies for both the construction of a facility using SMR technology and establishing the Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology are ongoing. Historically, these kinds of projects have been financed by governments, but more recently multilateral development banks have started discussions around financing frameworks to expand access for emerging economies embarking on nuclear energy development.”
Rwanda has signed a nuclear cooperation deal with Russia focused on nuclear medicine, energy and scientific research. The move reflects Kigali’s broader strategy of working with multiple global partners amid shifting influence in Africa aje.news/3ucjhm
