Hi @mehdirhasan, I do not support genocide. Never have. Never will. Israel has NOT and is NOT committing genocide. But you can’t even acknowledge that someone could have that position, so you resort to “you support genocide.” Sounds like you’re the dishonest prick here Mehdi.

Hi Joe, the reason so many people think you’re a genocidal prick and dishonest is because 1) you support a genocide, 2) you publicly accused me of antisemitism despite years of supposed friendship, and now play victim when I point out your dishonesty, and 3) it is indeed dishonest to claim ‘only’ the Palestinians are to blame when even pro-Israel people no concede that Smotrich and Ben-Gvir don’t believe in any kind of peace or negotiations.

I know some parents sleep train without realising how harmful it is but it's cruel and harmful.
Babies cry for a reason: food, comfort, reassurance. To deny them that is horrible. You wouldn't do that to an adult in distress so why on earth would you do it to your child?

My late son, Daniel, is not a direct victim of 9/11, yet he was murdered by Khalid Sheik Mohammad (KSM), the 9/11 architect. I wish I could join the petition to bar Mayor Mamdani from the memorial -- his anti-American ideology differs little from that of KSM's.
Families of 9/11 victims are urging organizers to bar New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from attending the 25th anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero. More than 1,100 people, including over 300 relatives of victims, have signed a petition arguing that his public record and past associations make his presence inappropriate.
The petition says the anniversary should remain focused on remembrance, unity, and honoring those murdered in the September 11 terrorist attacks. A spokesperson for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum said the ceremony is intentionally kept free of politics, while Mamdani's office said he still plans to attend.

📞 This morning I received a phone call that has stayed with me all day.
A Palestinian worker called me.
He wasn't asking for politics.
He was worried about losing his job.
He told me that if Europe moves forward with legislation restricting imports from parts of the West Bank, his employer may be able to relocate but he cannot.
Then he said something I won't forget:
"I can't say this publicly. If I do, there are people who will make sure I pay the price."
Whatever your views on the conflict, stories like his deserve to be heard.
Who speaks for people like him?

SHAME ON YOU!!!!
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE CLEAR: NO MORE U.S. AID TO ISRAEL
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on an amendment introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie to cut the $3.3 billion in annual U.S. military aid to Israel. I strongly support this amendment.
Israel, like any other country, had the right to defend itself against the horrific terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 innocent people. But it did not have the right to go to war against the entire Palestinian population. It did not have the right to kill more than 73,000 Palestinians and wound over 173,000 more — the vast majority of them women, children and the elderly. It did not have the right to destroy virtually the entire infrastructure of Gaza — the schools, the health facilities, the water systems, wastewater plants, the electric grid that a civilian population depends on to survive. It did not have the right to destroy or damage 92% of all housing units in Gaza. In other words, Israel did not have the right to commit genocide. And it did not have the right to escalate its violence and annexation of the West Bank while the world's attention was focused elsewhere.
Tragically, almost five months ago, Israel, with strong support from the Trump administration, launched a reckless and illegal war against Iran — a war that has killed thousands of people and left an already unstable region of the world even more unstable. That war expanded into Lebanon, where Israeli strikes have now killed more than 4,000 people and displaced some 20% of the entire Lebanese population. That is not "defending Israel". These are regional wars of expansion and terror, waged without a clear strategy, and without an end in sight.
The American people are catching on. Polls show that nearly three-quarters of Democratic voters now oppose sending military aid to Israel, as do more than one-third of Republican voters. Just 16% of all Americans support giving Israel unconditional aid.
And I am proud that this past April, 40 out of 47 Senate Democrats — a record number — supported my bill to block arms sales to the far-right, extremist Netanyahu government.
We have enormous unmet needs in our own country. Today, while 60% of our people are living paycheck to paycheck, tens of millions of Americans cannot afford housing, healthcare, childcare and other basic needs. Congress must focus on the needs of their constituents, not an Israeli government that is undermining American values. I urge my colleagues in the House to vote yes on the Massie amendment.

Alas, Mr. Congressman, I'm not lying. And I started this line of questioning assuming you were telling the truth. I've written long essays on extremist Israeli violence in the West Bank. I know it happens. I was ready, at first glance, to believe it happened here. But it didn't. This wasn't Israeli violence. This was agitprop for your American audiences.
I said explicitly that I'm not familiar with the details of that area. It took a lot of effort for JPost to find out what it found out -- which was that it was a closed military zone only recently opened.
But if you'd coordinated your visit with Israeli authorities, this would have been sorted out from the start. Those soldiers weren't angry or aggressive, they seemed mostly just confused about the status of the area and how to handle your visit.
Because, you know, there was no coordination.
JPost suggests all that in the article you yourself shared.
And what of the violence? Your group had cameras -- a professional photographer and at least one bodycam -- yet you've produced no evidence that I've seen of the violence you claim to have experienced.
Remember that you claimed the violence was sufficient to demand that Netanyahu order the prosecution of those soldiers.
I've seen that sort of violence before; if you produce that footage, I'll join your demand for prosecution. That's not rhetoric. I really will, wholeheartedly.
But if you don't, I think it's safe to assume you blew up a small inconvenience caused by your own refusal to talk to Israelis.
In a similar vein, you used the word "detained" as if you were unlawfully held against your will -- and hide behind its second meaning, that you were a bit delayed in driving forward into the area. The first is on the spectrum of kidnapping crimes, the second is the sort of problem you'd encounter at the entrance to a federal building as you search your pockets for an ID. Which was it?
Anyway, you were angling for some domestic political brownie points, and congratulations, you got 'em.
You are lying @havivrettiggur. The Jerusalem Post, which leans right, concluded that it was not a closed zone & vigilante settlers had no right to detain Americans. Stop gaslighting Americans. jpost.com/israel-news/articl…
