Reading Harold Evan’s ‘Good Times, Bad Times’ inspired me. It laid out what it meant to be a journalist. So pleased to be asked to contribute to a book that does the same. Stories from Australian women across the decades. Great holiday reading. Tks @MelissRob and @WatsonTrevorJ

The British PM stopped our head of state attending the COP 27 conference to speak about the importance of stronger action to combat climate change. We need a head of state that represents the aspirations of the Australian people, not the wishes of the British government.

Protests are sweeping Iran & women are burning their hijabs after the death last week of Mahsa Amini, following her arrest by the “morality police”. Human rights groups say at least 8 have been killed. Last night, I planned to ask President Raisi about all this and much more. 1/7

Since Myanmar’s military coup 80+ journalists have been detained, including Han Thar Nyein from Kamayut Media, who’s also worked for the ABC over the years. His co-editor Nathan Maung was freed this week & deported to the US but Han Thar remains in jail. Journalism is not a crime

Yep, #China - just like the Mafia, just when you think you’re out, it drags you back in 🤣 #TheBeijingBureau @HardieGrant 📚
@Rowancallick's chapter from The Beijing Bureau is excerpted in @australian today. 'You can leave China, but it doesn’t leave you. My three thrilling spells as a China correspondent were both utterly consistent and stunningly different.' @HardieGrant theaustralian.com.au/inquire…

Art for 32th anniversary of #TianamenMasscre CCP’s national security law just kills HK’s magnificent vigil night for 4June and the event may just never happen again. It’s a sad and furious moment. Censorship and oppression will only bring explosion of anger. #六四 作品 薪火相传

Remembering Tiananmen. On 4th June 1989, hundreds - possibly thousands - of students and workers were killed by the People's Liberation Army in Beijing. The following clips come from the US documentary 'China: A Century of Revolution.' [1/20]
