I get a lot of questions on the #NIH #K99 #postdoc to faculty transition award. Decided to pen my thoughts and experiences towards receiving the K99/R00 - hoping it would be helpful for the community. Please find article link at - debosardarlab.org/blog

Been writing a lot lately so have been googling stuff more often these days. Google's AI Overview consistently makes up facts and arguments, and presents citation links that have nothing to do with my query. And yet.. I can't turn this feature off?! 🤨

Overall, both model and human increase attention to things and decrease attention to stuff compared to baseline pixel-count-based probability. When human fixation to individual labels disagrees with this average pattern, model attention also tends to mimic the human. 10/15

What are foundation models in neuroscience? I'll be giving a talk next week to the NIH neuroscience ethics working group. I started writing a short blog post which snowballed into this 5,000 word essay neuroai.science/p/foundation…

The US has the highest rate of pedestrian and cyclist fatalities—by far—among wealthy nations despite having far lower rates of walk/bike. The difference is almost entirely because of mandated auto dependence, road design and failure to regulate dangerous automobiles and drivers.
❗Bicyclist fatalities peak in the month of August, with more than 930 people killed on U.S. roadways from 2013-2022.❗ Drivers 🚗 — remember to share the road and give bicyclists enough space. 🚴 Tips to keep yourself and others safe here: NHTSA.gov/BicycleSafety

Honestly, the METRO light rail is Houston's best kept secret. It's fast, clean, cooled, has room for your bikes - and there's always a free seat. There are two UH stops and one of them is literally 1 block from my work building! I ❤️ @METROHouston
