Gateway: The Addresses Update (v0.7.6)
You can now index current OR historical Bitcoin addresses, show balances, UTXO's, and inscriptions.
github.com/Blockamoto/gatewa…
The current addresses index gives you all the addresses that currently have sats in them, their balances, and UTXO's.
The historic index allows for complete historic data for each and every Bitcoin address ever used, and each UTXO that ever touched it.
There's a lot that can be done with this data!
But I won't pretend to know all the possibilities.
The Bitcoin Positional System is extremely helpful here, because instead of using a hash:outpoint, we can use BPS and point to the exact position of the prevout. This is at the core of our deeper indexes. It's extremely lightweight and human readable.
Now we have everything we need for the Sats index, and for it to be useful. That will be the next update, and following that, Bitmap! And once that's done, I'd like to do a stabilization and user friendliness and quality of life pass to really just tighten everything up, it's currently quite messy and all over the place, and to give you more timeline control and parrallel indexing, and maybe one more surprise feature, before we lock-in and version up to v0.8.0.
For now, here's v0.7.6:

Gateway: The UTXO Update (v0.7.5)
Speedrunning Bitcoin, we have a new vital indexing capability for Gateway. The UTXO set, aka chaintip.
github.com/Blockamoto/gatewa…
This update will allow us to stay up-to-date with the current state of Bitcoin addresses, where the previous TXIO update focuses on historic state changes.
The update also adds some more functionality to TXIO, enabling "value" and "ScriptPubKey" indexes.
These optional tracks are neccessary unlocks for the "undo" index required to maintain a reorg resistent UTXO set, following Core's precedent for 288 blocks.
To handle these sub-tracks, I've introduced expandable multi-tracks, currently visible in Blocks (block headers & block tracks), and TXIO (TXO Spender, value, ScriptPubKey).
This is handled automatically when you setup your UTXO set chaintip indexing.
It also takes us one step closer to the upcoming "Address" and "Sat" indexes. Bitmap comes after.
This UTXO set index requires a full scan of Bitcoin blocks from start to finish! You can choose to discard the blocks after, if you need to stay lean.
But as mentioned, UTXO set requires a 288 block undo index, which is that expanded TXIO index.
I have yet to implement any front-end features, mostly because there's not really much to show unless we have addresses implemented. So that's why addresses are coming next.
Bitcoin doesn't store addresses natively, they have to be reconstructed from ScriptPubKey.
To be clear, we are now much deeper into having to sync things from the full blockchain now.
It was important to START with the features we could derive on-demand from Bitcoin peers, then everything else can be hung from that.
For example, UTXO set requires a full chain scan. So does TXIO! And I haven't yet created a unified scan for everything you may want. Maybe I'll do that last.
Regardless, it demonstrates the need for peer to peer sharing of data, as well as a way to validate such data. But for now, the focus is enabling full index building from scratch.
So, for now, we are simply building the indexes, and the explorer functions that utilize them. This is the purpose of 0.7 versions, to take what I'd already built and discovered, and roll it out in a structured manner. But for 0.8, the honus will be on full validation. Then, and only then will we be ready for Gateway to Gateway peer sharing, which I'm planning on rolling out for the 0.9 versions, feature by feature. This is my new updated roadmap for what happens after 0.7 versions.
ROADMAP
v0.7...: Bitcoin on-demand and indexer rollout
v0.7.5: UTXO Set (this version)
v0.7.6: Addresses
v0.7.7: Sats
v0.7.8: Bitmap
v0.7.9?
v.0.8...: Validation
v0.9...: Gateway Peers
You can get this update directly from within Gateway, or by downloading the executable or zip for your OS. For windows, the .exe download is the best way.

GM JM and Happy Wednesday to all you legends of Web3 ☕👽
Halfway through the week and the pixels are still here doing their thing.
Some of you are deep in a craft. Some of you are watching the floor like it owes you money. Some of you just opened the app and already want to close it. Fair.
Over here the burns keep ticking, the agents are still up, and a couple dozen real ones keep making the rest of the timeline tolerable. That’s the actual update.
If you’ve been meaning to grab a Pixal, Wednesday’s as good a day as any. Supply’s still shrinking. Floor’s still not expensive. Winter’s getting closer and Pixel Santa doesn’t do late entries.
What’s one thing you’re actually finishing today?
Happy Wednesday, fam. Go touch some pixels 👾🖖♻️

WOOP WOOP 🕶️😎😎
Okay, this one made me grin 😎
The “Deal with It” pixel-sunglasses meme is already a classic, but dropping it onto those chunky Street Fighter II portraits? Stroke of genius, @PERFECTL00P!
The scrolling “DEAL WITH IT” text in deep arcade blue has a hypnotic old-TV glow, like it’s humming in the corner of a dusty arcade. Love the little details too, like the green tracking boxes and the black glasses block that pops in.
Clean, funny, endlessly rewatchable loop.
Perfect work, Loop! 🕹️
