Open USD is now live on Solana giving businesses a stablecoin they can mint and burn 1:1 for dollars at no cost.
The interesting part is that OUSD is issued natively on Solana through Bridge, with reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY.
There is no wrapped version to reconcile. OUSD on @solana is the actual instrument.
Five major founding partners, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa, have committed more than $1 billion toward OUSD liquidity.
And this arrives on a network that has already processed more than $5 trillion in stablecoin volume this year.
The bigger shift is not another stablecoin.
It is businesses starting to treat blockchains as payment, settlement and treasury infrastructure.
The interesting question is what gets built when dollars become programmable.
