Spare us the lecture on тАЬregime change is normal in a democracy.тАЭ
You know exactly what the phrase means when Prashant Bhushan and AISAтАЩs Neha Bora use it while invoking BangladeshтАЩs Gen Z street movement that toppled a government outside the electoral calendar. That is not тАЬoppose, expose and depose through elections.тАЭ That is a deliberate attempt to normalise extra-constitutional pressure, street veto and manufactured unrest.
If it is only about elections, why the hurry? Why the Bangladesh template? Why frame protests against the Election Commission as a тАЬfight for regime changeтАЭ?In a real democracy, governments change when voters decide at the ballot box, not when a handful of activists and opposition leaders decide the system is тАЬdictatorialтАЭ the moment they keep losing. You yourself have used the phrase in purely electoral contexts before. The difference is context, and this context reeks of anarchy-shopping.
The BJP is not тАЬapoplectic with feigned rage.тАЭ We are simply refusing to pretend that тАЬregime changeтАЭ + Bangladesh reference = routine parliamentary opposition. India is not Bangladesh. Our institutions, our voters and our Constitution will decide the next government in 2029, not street theatrics dressed up as high principle.
Do your job in Parliament and on the campaign trail. Stop trying to import instability and then gaslight the country about dictionary definitions.

PHOTO | A wider cross-section of the Harvard community, including lawyers, policymakers, civil servants, scientists and academicians, in a statement, says:
"We, concerned citizens from the worldтАЩs oldest and largest democracy, India, write with a deep sense of responsibility. In moments such as these, silence cannot be an excuse for indifference. We are deeply concerned by the negative public discourse and concerted campaign against IndiaтАЩs constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission of India, the Supreme Court, the office of the HonтАЩble Chief Justice of India, and Parliament. Also troubling are reports of the use of Harvard UniversityтАЩs name to lend credibility to a political campaign without appropriate authorisation. The language used to describe India as being under тАЬsiegeтАЭ and to characterise constitutional authorities as тАЬthievesтАЭ or тАЬcompromisedтАЭ raises serious concerns about the intent to undermine public trust in democratic institutions. The actions of law enforcement agencies to uphold public order deserve fair scrutiny, but sweeping accusations and abusive rhetoric cannot substitute for evidence, due process or institutional accountability. The dignity of public servants and the offices they hold must also be respected. The Constitution, rule of law, and civil liberties must be respected at all times, not just when it suits our interests. Our commitment must remain to the Constitution, not convenience; to justice, not selective outrage; and to democratic institutions, not the politics of accusation."

To all the beautiful young patriots in India:
This is not the time to be silent. @abhijeet_dipke and the @Cockroachisback are being funded by donors in the U.S. who are against Prime Minister @NarendraModi and your future under his leadership. Do not fear, my young patriots. Your Prime Minister, who has served India for 25 years, 12 years as Prime Minister, elected three consecutive terms, is not going to bow to disruptive forces from my country.
And these select donors have a pattern globally - target conservative global leaders, find an U.S. educated person from the country, radicalize them, send them back to the country, and fund them to start chaos and destruction. None of them have been successful but have impacted the development and governance of the country.
It is time for a new voice in #India, born, raised, educated on the soil of India, to RISE UP, organize, and peacefully protest the disruptive spirit of the Cockroach Party. There should always be a counter movement to uphold democracy and freedom.
Rise up, young patriots! Rise up!

I was fascinated by the idea of migrating abroad when I was in middle school. I had heard so many тАЬwowтАЭ stories about the sons and daughters of my fatherтАЩs colleagues who had gone overseas.
I wrote the SAT way back in 2003. Got multiple admits, including NUS and NTU. Everything was ready for me to migrate.
But I also got admission to CEG, then among the best engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. And I did the unthinkable. I chose Mechanical Engineering at CEG over NUS/NTU.
Dad went wild!
At the end of my undergraduate years, I had two choices: GRE or CAT. Dad wanted me to take the GRE and leave India at the earliest. I chose CAT. I stayed back.
I eventually started a venture in one of India's most heavily regulated industries.
And the regulators nearly killed my venture thrice. Closing down MSE. Slashing commissions at their whims and fancies. Arbitrarily increasing net-worth requirements and questioning the very viability of my business.
There were moments when I wondered whether staying back had been a mistake. The system certainly gave me enough reasons to feel that way.
Yet, by God's grace, I survived. Seventeen years of running a company in India.
And despite everything, I still love this country. I don't entirely know why.
Perhaps it is the mananimmathi I experience when I travel through her countryside. Perhaps it is the atma tripti her temples give me. Perhaps it is the inexplicable happiness I feel in Malnad, in my Pandya desam, or in my beloved Travancore whenever I set foot on that soil and walk its paths.
Priceless. Absolutely priceless.
Look at where India was in the 1960s and 1970s and where she is today. She has come a long way.
From confiscatory 97% marginal income-tax rates to a much lower peak rate today. From a hopelessly Fabian socialist model to a mixed economy. From waiting endlessly for a Bajaj Chetak to being able to buy a Toyota in minutes. From waiting years for a telephone connection to becoming one of the world's cheapest mobile-data markets. From mud roads to expressways. From extreme poverty тАФ remember Kamal Haasan eating an apple that had fallen into a gutter in Varumayin Niram Sivappu тАФ to Shimla apples being available even in village markets.
India has travelled an extraordinary distance.
Of course, she could have done much better. She could have become another Singapore in terms of civic infrastructure, public services and urban planning. We have squandered decades and opportunities. There is no denying that.
But she remains India.
I take comfort in how far she has travelled despite decades of socialist policies and political mismanagement, rather than spending every waking moment complaining about everything that is wrong with her.
I can criticise India. I can demand better governance, better infrastructure and better public services. I can be frustrated with her bureaucracy and regulations.
But my affection for her runs deeper than my frustrations.
And perhaps that is what people who constantly compare India with the West fail to understand. A country is not merely the quality of its roads, the efficiency of its bureaucracy or the size of its paycheques. There is also a sense of belonging, a civilisational connection and a peace of mind that cannot be measured on a spreadsheet.
I would rather be a small soul in a country I love than spend my life as an indentured servant in a soulless system.
I had my opportunities to leave. I chose to stay.
Seventeen years later, with all the scars, setbacks and struggles, I still feel it was worth it.
She is far from perfect. But she is mine. She will never ditch me. She will not ask for a VISA to accommodate me as she has soul and I am her son.
And that makes all the difference.

It's not surprising to see our colonial sepoy @rahulgandhi supporting @elonmusk in undermining our business ventures. After all, in ensuring the integrity of our country be it economic or territorial, the Nehru-Gandhi family has been acting against India for over 4 generations. @elonmusk, dear, because I greatly respect you, let me say this. Cozying up to the likes of @RahulGandhi will not escalate a Starlink license. But further delay it.
Companies all over the world successfully do business with India. As you know, foreign partnership starts with respect for the country and its leadership. Rahul lacks respect for both his own country and PM Modi. He is bad company.
And тАЬthe other guyтАЭ is one of the greatest and most powerful leaders in the world today and will be governing India a long time. You want a license? I suggest shifting your public messages to the attention of PM @narendramodi and not wannabees like Rahul.
Congrats on your award today, BTW. Thank you for all your contributions to our great country. ЁЯЗ║ЁЯЗ╕

You have targeted India on many issues which surprised me as the UN Charter forbids any interference in the internal affairs of countries.
These issues like farmers agitation, CAA, Delhi riots were IndiaтАЩs internal affairs, not international.
What did you do for better governance in the UN?
As a former parliamentarian, I know the critical role parliamentarians play in making institutions more inclusive, government more accountable & rebuilding trust on which our societies depend.
Amid global challenges, I call on all parliamentarians to take a stand & make good governance a source of confidence & opportunity for all.

Elon MuskтАЩs observations seek to discredit the sovereignty of IndiaтАЩs telecom policy by casting aspersions on the GovernmentтАЩs hitherto cold response to Starlink.
This comes at a time when the US is literally expelling IndiaтАЩs IT giants from flourishing on its soil.
This is blatant hostility towards IndiaтАЩs economy and an open cold shouldering of IndiaтАЩs iconic business titans.
Just out of hatred for the Prime Minister @narendramodi, the LoP @RahulGandhi is actually undermining India, giving legitimacy to the sneering utterances of those hostile to our country.
Rahul Gandhi must take care not to let his personal prejudices overwhelm his political judgment.
The Indian people deserve a united political response to outside forces seeking to undermine our rising economy!

When I first met him, out of awe and awkwardness I fiddled with my hair. He slapped my hand away and said 'hero ki tarah Baal mat bana...tu actor hai'!
He didn't flatter you. He didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile.
He always had a strange way of showing affection. He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back.
He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.┬а┬а
Nana your intensity, laughter , madness and love will always stay with us. I just wish we had time to have more conversations, another argument, another cup of tea and a game of carrom.
You have left a void not only in the world of cinema but in the hearts of all Indians and the world. All I can say is, I will miss you dearly and carry your words in my heart till the end of time....'hero banne ke chakar mein actor mat khona'
May your soul rest in peace Nana and Allah bless you. The Heavens will be blessed to have you... a masterful actor and an unbeatable carrom champion. Love you and miss you dearly!! Too soon my Hero Actor! RIP.
