Who cares about data? Cupsogue Pictures suggest we might be taking it for granted in their new film Control. It was a pleasure to work on this film as part of @TripleExposure_ and we greatly enjoyed attending the premiere last night.

SLAPPs are back in the news, with the Law Society recently making a call for action about what most people regard as a scourge on the right to freedom of expression. CEO Alex Wade gave evidence on this during the MoJ’s 2022 consultation & wrote about it in ‘A Season on the Med’.

‘Week in, week out,’ wrote Wade, ‘the UK press receive letters threatening all manner of legally inflicted oblivion, if enquiries persist into a given individual’s activities or if an editor has the temerity to publish a story’. Time to move away from this culture? Definitely.

On Saturday QPR fans from R&C, Alliotts, & some of our clients went along to Loftus Road to see QPR v Bristol City. While more could have happened on the pitch, there was plenty happening in the stands, including the recording of the next episode of the Footy on the Med podcast!

It was great to see the news of the SAG-AFTRA agreement which should mark the end of the strikes across the film and TV industry in the US. We hope that this marks a new wave of positive collaboration, creativity, and new content that we can support from a legal perspective.

Today, @CartooningPeace and @toonistsrights, with the support of UNESCO, published a report titled ‘Cartoonists on the Line’ which explores the growing threats to cartoonists across the world, from 2020 to 2022. It is really worth reading! cartoonistsrights.org/wp-con…

This year, we were again one of the sponsors of the @Film_London Production Finance Market. It was encouraging to meet both new and very experienced filmmakers developing such a wide variety of projects. We are looking forward to supporting these productions as they move forward.

It was a pleasure to attend a private viewing of Cannes Uncut last week, brilliantly organised by Alliotts, one of our partners at Triple Exposure. It provided a fascinating insight into the different aspects of Cannes Film Festival, especially for those who have not attended!

The Rt Hon David Davis MP nailed it: ‘Free speech matters – that is a truism of our age – but why does it matter? There are many reasons, but the important one is that free speech helps keep our society clean; free of corruption..." reviewedandcleared.com/news-…
