More lies.
The Bill does not criminalise parents for simply having difficult conversations with their children. It targets abusive conversion practices meeting a high threshold of harm.
Sex Matters is advocating for child abuse.
We agree with @bphillipsonMP, minister for women and equalities, that parents shouldn’t be prosecuted for having difficult conversations with their children.
But there is nothing on the face of the Conversion Practices Bill that protects them. We wrote to ask her to put that right.

I haven't sat on an employment tribunal for several months, having taken on a new job.
I sincerely hope that, should I return, I never find myself sharing a hearing room with Naomi Cunningham.
An employment discrimination barrister casually describing transgender people as mentally disordered, in defiance of established clinical classifications, is quite something.
Good grief.

This is mental.
It is completely and utterly mental.
This should literally be illegal.
It is not unreasonable to ban politicians from being broadcast journalists FFS

I try to avoid hyperbole when it comes to discussing the "Gender Critical" mob because I believe that facts are much more useful, so it is important to be clear: a lot of TERFs are just straight up genocidal fanatics. Warped, dangerous people for whom hate has become an obsession

in opinion polls etc it's actually not that different to many other countries it's just that as soon as you say something transphobic here you immediately get given a newspaper column to write whatever hateful shit you want

Just a reminder that the sum total of Bethany Hutchinson’s complaint as lead name of the Darlington nurses was that she once passed her trans colleague in a public corridor. The intolerance and bigotry is off the scale in this group funded & promoted by Christian Concern.

No, Janet. You didn’t raise “important safeguarding questions” about a girls’ school. You targeted and harassed a trans teacher for running a fundraiser and their headteacher for donating. That’s not safeguarding. It’s not a public interest issue. It’s a witch hunt.
Feels very timely, this … because I published a story this week that was clearly in the public interest. It raised important safeguarding questions relating to a girls’ school.
Cue accusations that my reporting could cause an individual to take his own life.
With no recognition that journalists don’t create stories like this. The actions of those involved do.
It’s not the first time this has happened. Nor, I suspect, will it be the last.
Of course journalists have a duty to report fairly and accurately.
But that doesn’t mean avoiding legitimate public-interest stories because someone might threaten to harm themselves.
A free press depends on journalists being able to report matters of public interest - without being intimidated into silence.
Whether that pressure comes through legal threats or emotional manipulation, it needs to be challenged.

This woman wrote a book suggesting Jewish billionaires were funding ‘trans’. Just think y’all should know that.

not sure how they're going to enforce this
when I changed my NHS gender marker a few months ago I had the option of getting a completely new number, and expunging all of my old records, so not even the NHS would know I've ever changed it

It's not actually the transphobia that disgusts me the most about this NHSE bullshit.
It's the implication that nurses up until now have been unwilling or unable to protect the dignity and safety of *all* of our patients.
This is a made up issue. This is absolutely mental.
Trans women will finally be banned from female wards in hospitals under new NHS guidance.
Hospitals have been told that wards, lavatories and changing rooms should be segregated by biological sex, not gender identity ⤵️

A completely unnecessary and cruel policy, driven not by evidence or genuine need, but by bigotry and prejudice. Its ultimate goal is to marginalise trans people, push them out of society and deny them the healthcare they need.

So Janet has gone from targeting innocent teachers to now targeting a missing woman.
This has nothing to do with women’s rights/safety. It’s an obsession with hunting trans people, stripping them of their privacy & dignity, & treating their existence as something to be policed
This is a man.
Why is the Southern Daily Echo telling its readers this is a woman?
Presumably because the journalist who wrote the article relied on information provided by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
This is an absolute joke.
Surely the priority should be finding this missing person as quickly as possible – someone who may be vulnerable and in need of help.
Instead, the police are effectively saying: we’re looking for a missing woman. Except the person we’re actually looking for is actually a man.
How is that supposed to help anyone?

Janet, imagine I decided to write an article about you and did so within the same journalistic standards you seem happy to work under
I could describe you as an ideologically motivated journalist who makes money writing anti-trans stories for mainstream newspapers, side-publishing material on their own blog that might struggle to meet those newspapers' editorial standards
I could quote anonymous sources questioning your professional integrity, claiming that other journalists regard your work as irresponsible, potentially dangerous and damaging to the profession
I wouldn't need to speak to any of those supposedly concerned journalists, or establish that you'd breached any professional standards
Then I could approach my ideologically aligned pals, solicit predictably hostile quotes about your work, and present them as independent expert opinion. Much as you do with Transgender Trend and Sex Matters
I'd have a story supported by anonymous sources, "professional" concern and authoritative-sounding commentary. All without establishing any actual wrongdoing
I could go further. You appear to publish under your maiden name. Perhaps I could identify you by your full legal name, disclose details of your workplace and make it easier for people to find you. After all, it's publicly available information
And when you objected to the personal and professional consequences, I could dismiss your concerns as "emotional manipulation" and insist I was merely asking legitimate questions about journalistic ethics
Would you consider that reasonable journalism?
You've identified a teacher, their workplace and their medical treatment, and raised questions about their professional suitability without establishing any misconduct. You've also questioned a headteacher's professional judgement over a £50 donation towards that treatment
You've taken two identifiable individuals, surrounded them with insinuation and ideologically sympathetic commentary, and called it a safeguarding story
Would you be quite so comfortable with those journalistic standards if you were the subject rather than the author?
🚨 NEW: An English teacher at a 28k a year private girls’ school crowdfunded for “bottom surgery” in Thailand in during the summer.
And his headteacher's name appears to be amongst the donors.
He wrote about the experience for his Go Fund Me page - which remained live - until the school was approached for comment this afternoon.

“Harassment is unacceptable. But raising questions about safeguarding and professional boundaries is not harassment.”
A headteacher donating money to another teacher’s go fund me for surgery is not a safeguarding issue.
What Janet is doing is harassment.
Glad that’s cleared up
This person suggests this teacher may end his life. Because I wrote about his public crowdfunder for penis removal in Thailand.
These are the kinds of tactics used to discourage people - including journalists - from asking legitimate safeguarding questions.
I see this as emotional manipulation.
Harassment is unacceptable. But raising questions about safeguarding and professional boundaries is not harassment.
This teacher publicly shared a crowdfunder to have his penis removed, knowing that students, parents and colleagues could see it.
It appears his headteacher supported the appeal financially, with a donation listed under her own name. Did she consider how that public support might affect him, or pupils and parents at the school?
I sincerely hope the school is supporting him. The crowdfunding page has now been taken down. Perhaps the school intervened; I don’t know.
But, in my view, it should have addressed the questions about professional boundaries far sooner.
Far sooner.
