Last week, our president and CEO, Andy Keller, joined his fellow members of the CEO Alliance for Mental Health at Peg’s Campus in Hudson, Ohio, for two days of conversation, reflection, and connection.
The CEO Alliance is made up of the fifteen leading organizations in the United States dedicated to improving the lives of people living with mental health, and the retreat focused on building relationships, exchanging ideas, and collaborating on the critical work ahead.
We are deeply grateful for the commitment of all member organizations in activating their Unified Vision and driving meaningful change together.
The Meadows Institute was honored to partner with the
@EU_Brain along with a number of respected national and international organizations at Brain Days at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York City today. The annual event brings together a wide range of innovative leaders from across sectors to advance global collaboration on brain health and brain disorders, which affect billions of people worldwide.
Andy Keller, president and CEO of the Meadows Institute, joined Frédéric Destrebecq, executive director of the European Brain Council, for the event's opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing brain health and ensuring that mental healthcare receives the same attention and investment as other areas of healthcare. The Meadows Institute also sponsored a panel discussion called "Brain Health in the Age of AI,” which featured Arthur Evans from the @APA, Zia Agha from the @WestHealth, Laura Murray from @JohnsHopkinsSPH, and Josh Hsu from Slingshot AI. The panel was moderated by Hannah Wesolowski from @NAMICommunicate, and the conversation explored how collaboration across sectors can harness AI to improve brain health while supporting innovation, safety, and thoughtful policy.
Progress will be made through partnerships, and leaders from the Meadows Institute had the chance to connect with a number of important voices and thinkers in brain health, including George Vradenburg and Patrick J. Kennedy.

The Meadows Institute celebrates the career and legacy of Arthur C. Evans, Ph.D., who has announced that he will retire as the CEO of the American Psychological Association and APA Services, Inc., in January 2028.
Dr. Evans has led the @APA for more than a decade, and his transformative leadership has been essential to improving mental healthcare and awareness across the country.
“Arthur is a tireless advocate for brain health and mental health,” says Andy Keller, the president and CEO of the Meadows Institute. “His leadership has been instrumental in elevating the national conversation on mental health, and I am proud to have had the chance to work alongside and learn from him. I wish him the very best.”
Congratulations, Dr. Evans! On behalf of the Meadows Institute, thank you for all that you have done to support mental health.
Tomorrow afternoon, family, loved ones, and friends will gather in Dallas to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of Tom Luce.
Tom accomplished many remarkable things in his life. But his commitment to transforming mental health care began with something deeply personal that more than half of Texans have or one day will have to face: finding care for a close family member.
Tom was fortunate to have a neighbor who happened to be a doctor help him find care that truly was helpful, but he saw firsthand the extraordinary difficulty too many families today still face. Reflecting on his efforts to help that family member, Tom later said, “But for him, I wouldn’t have been able to have navigated the system to get her help.”
Tom never forgot that experience. It became part of the conviction that animated his leadership as our founding president and CEO: that people with mental health needs should be able to get the right care at the right time, and families should not have to figure out how to get that care alone.
In this video, Tom shares how those early experiences shaped a lifetime of service, and a legacy that continues to guide our work today.
A recap from an unforgettable evening! ✨

Last fall, friends of Tom Luce, our founding president and CEO, gathered to reflect on his vision of Texas as the national leader in mental health and Tom’s lasting legacy of smart policy wins that have advanced that vision. Listen to Tom talk about this in his own words:
To continue that work and Tom’s legacy, his friends established the Tom Luce Policy Fund. mmhpi.org/topics/announcemen…
