Teaching isn't hard. Making people do things they don't want to do is.

Some parents I serve are Uber/Lyft drivers and they don't play games. They just hope the next person isn't a lunatic with a gun. Stop with the hero bullshit and join the rest of us in the mud.
Teachers get to play fun games at school. Such as "Can you find a working copier during your prep?" And if you lose, you get to try again during your lunch. Another game is "Can you go to the bathroom between classes and before class starts?" You don't want to lose this one.

Nothing shouts privilege like tweeting this from the 10th floor across the street. Except taking the time to take the picture as well.
I am trapped in my hotel for the time being. Thousands of police are lined up outside the hotel (which is across the street from the palace of justice). I will say that my day is not boring. Teaching a class on zoom later so no need to leave anyway. (Protestors are expected)

stop administering them
Standardized testing, especially in elementary level is not only a massive waste of time and money, but has little to no impact on student learning.

Here is an entire thread of people in power blatantly ignoring people who want to revolt against them but cannot for the sake of their own survival, so they attack each other.
As I finally sit at home for a bit, I'm thinking about all the fights I've broken up, some crazier and more violent than this one. Two things really shook me. We've had a lot of weapons lately, so I'm worried about that. And the complete lack of another adult in the hallway.

activities like this make it more palatable for the students to accept your completely arbitrary decisions on completely arbitrary grades.
One of my small joys is to hit the gritty when only a few students are watching and then deny it like crazy when they try to tell their friends.

yes. you should. it would be the more humane choice of the two.
A S told me the activity we were doing was “fucking stupid.” Why do I even try to plan activities? Might as well just give them a worksheet 🤦‍♀️

Sept. is the worst b/c getting started is hard. Oct. sucks because you just get going and then Halloween Nov. sucks because there are too many days off. Dec. sucks because the holiday season gets the kids too amped up. Jan. sucks because you have to work the kids back from break+

Feb. sucks because whatever this tweet says. March sucks because there are no days off. April sucks because the kids look forward to another long break. May sucks because of testing. June sucks because the kids are excited to leave. School sucks.

If it was legal to make children wear horse blinders, lots of teachers would.
Q1: The school year is coming to a close in the next two months. How do you keep your students focused on learning and what is happening in class and at school? #satchat

We would like to give you some seeds for free. So your kids can learn they don't always have to pay fucking banks when they want something.
