We‘re trying to educate our family, friends, and broader community. We model masking, testing, staying home when sick. We provide a safer workplace with required masks, free respirators, filtration and ventilation in every room, free rapid tests available. We are working hard.

My family spends our risk on small gatherings with our closest family. We ask a lot of questions in advance. We’re up to date on vaccines. My household masks in respirators in public. We bring filtration. We encourage time together outdoors. We test. And we give tests and masks.

In a strange event on April 19th, 1995, McArthur Wheeler executed a bank robbery while wearing a disguise consisting of lemon juice smeared on his face. His rationale was rooted in the belief that lemon juice, commonly used as invisible ink, would render him undetectable by CCTV cameras. With confidence, he even grinned at each camera he encountered during the heist.
However, later that same night, the police apprehended Wheeler. The moment of reckoning occurred when they presented him with the CCTV footage, leaving Wheeler utterly astonished. He expressed his disbelief to the officers, uttering the baffling words, "but I wore the juice."
This outlandish episode involving McArthur Wheeler has earned its place as a renowned case study in the realm of psychology. It notably contributed to the unveiling of the Dunning-Kruger effect, a cognitive bias wherein individuals with limited competence in a particular task tend to overestimate their abilities.

The public was repeatedly told by scientists who claimed there was an adequate immune memory response from infection that infection would contribute to herd immunity, and that protection from infection would be lifelong, similar to sars1.
Now all those people are walking back their definitions of herd immunity to become, "herd immunity from severe disease."
There was indeed a misrepresentation of immunity and herd immunity. The misrepresentation was either in 2020 or it is now, in 2023.
So tell me, did you simply fail to communicate that infection would create herd immunity from 'severe disease' and not infection in 2020?
Or are you all changing your definition of "herd immunity" to now rather become " herd immune response and subsequent protection from severe disease?"
By the way, the NIH just released a preprint showing protection from severe disease conferred by infection wanes and rather becomes susceptibility.

"Let the people see what they did to my boy."
That's what Emmett Till's mother said after she saw her 14-year-old son's mutilated body in 1955.
Mamie Till-Mobley had never intended to become an activist, but she knew that her child was far from the only victim of lynching in Jim Crow America. And she felt that a public funeral would force people to confront the ugly reality of racially-motivated murders.
Over Labor Day weekend, nearly 100,000 mourners viewed the boy's body in an open-casket service in Chicago.
Till-Mobley also permitted a photographer to take pictures of Emmett's face and distribute them to African American magazines and newspapers so people across America could see him as well.

On July 27, 1981, six-year-old Adam Walsh and his mother Revé went to a Sears department store in a Hollywood, Florida mall to shop for lamps. When they entered the store, Adam spotted a group of teenagers playing an Atari video game system and asked if he could watch them. His mom agreed since the lamps were just a few aisles over. However, when Revé returned less than 10 minutes later, Adam was gone.
It was later discovered that a security guard had kicked the teens out of the store when they became rowdy while playing. The guard assumed Adam was with them and made him leave the mall too, but he was too shy to speak up to say that his mother was nearby.
Adam was then abducted just outside the store, and his severed head was found in a drainage canal 100 miles away two weeks later.
Adam's father, John Walsh, became an advocate for victims of violent crimes and this led to John Walsh starting the television program America's Most Wanted on February 7, 1988.

Since the Holocaust, scholars and laypeople alike have questioned how such a horrific genocide could have happened. What few realize is that just over two decades earlier, something eerily similar already had.
Although it remains widely overlooked and in some cases completely denied, the Turks and Ottomans killed approximately 1.5 million Armenians between 1915 and 1923 in the Armenian genocide.
The Ottoman Empire suffered a series of military defeats and territorial losses—especially during the 1912–1913 Balkan Wars—leading to fear that the Armenians would seek independence.
During their invasion of Russian and Persian territory in 1914, Ottoman paramilitaries massacred local Armenians. Mass deportation was intended to permanently forestall the possibility of Armenian independence.
On 24 April 1915, the Ottoman authorities arrested and deported hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and leaders from Constantinople. Following this, an estimated 800,000 to 1.2 million Armenians were sent on death marches to the Syrian Desert.
Some victims were marched into the Syrian desert and left to die without food and water, while others were executed in burnings, drownings, and gassings. Yet others were taken to brutal concentration camps, where they were exterminated en masse.

On December 23, 1944, First Lieutenant John Robert Fox established an observational post in the Italian town of Sommocolonia, which was under threat from Nazi forces.
Being part of the sole Black infantry division in the U.S. Army that engaged in combat during World War II, this was 29-year-old Fox's first time on the front lines. For three consecutive days, he held his position, guiding artillery fire against German forces and aiding numerous American soldiers in their retreat.
However, on December 26, the Germans initiated a fierce assault. Outnumbered and running low on ammunition, Fox made the ultimate sacrifice by ordering an artillery strike on his own location.
Fully aware of the impending consequences, he made this call to eliminate numerous Nazi soldiers and facilitate his fellow soldiers' escape. As the soldier who received this dire request recounted, Fox's final command was, "Fire it! There's more of them than there are of us. Give them hell!"
A week later, Fox's body was found amidst the remains of about 100 German soldiers.
